Just thought I would share some pics of my Vauxhall midi (Isuzu fargo), I won it on ebay for £400 as "spares or repairs" due to a leaking clutch master cylinder, but it came with a refurb kit so an hours work and it was fully driveable Its a long wheel base model, with windows all around, its been painted a sort of satin black so looks very rough and ready, but I love it! haha It was originally an 8 seater so I removed the rear seats to make room! So the plan is to use it for a few months for tip runs and building supplies and then carry on with a camper conversion! The rear is 10 foot long by 5foot wide so plenty of room! First purchase for it was a set of 4 Pajero alloy wheels, £20 ebay bargain they should look awesome and fill the arches quite well Quick 10 min clean, they will easily end up polished to a mirror finish so will be great! This is my plan for the camper conversion, it will be a corner sofa bed, the removable section is the width of the bed so will be removable as and attach at the top of the sofa as a back rest. The drawing isn't to scale but with a 6ft 3 bed it will leaves me with 4foot of worktop space at the end of it! And leaves me the other side for push bikes inside the van The 2 windows behind the drivers side will be boarded up, ill probably paint the inside of the windows and then put up a carpeted wall the whole length of the van, with some insulation behind to help keep warm! I am planning on lowering it, its leafs at the rear and big beefy springs up front, will make up some 2.5" lowering blocks out of steel box section with longer u bolts for the rear and possibly just cut a coil on the front, but don't think it will quite give me the drop I'm after so will have to look at other possibilities?

The link isn't working! But I might actually be after a side sliding door?! I've had a search on here for project logs but only really found 1 or 2
It's solid everywhere but door bottoms, the front 2 aren't too bad really but the side door could do with replacing.
It's got the old column shifter which takes some getting used to! Haha

Fixed the link, the side door on my breaker is rusty and warped so will be no good. Its got good running gear, its just very rusty, although the chassis is still solid. The gutters and the front floors are the worse bit I take it yours is a diesel? mines petrol and does about 20mpg ? My old camper has the column shift, which I prefer fo extra coolnees, don't go too small on the tyres on the alloys as the gearing on these vans is really high, 1st is useless already.

Has anyone know what fuel pumps these use? Looking at running it on veg oil the engines are bomb proof so just making sure the fuel pump is upto the job! Veg oil is around £1 a litre so should save some money!

Looking forward to seeing this on those Pajero wheels, especially after seeing the Rascal Mystery Machine put on Turbo Vecs.

I think the design will work better than the TVs on the Midi and in my head they're a top wheel choice for this van even as it looks now. You should get some orange paint/tape to go in that recess down the sides of the van so it links up the front and rear indicators.

Yeah it will be saved, I doubt I'll ever sell it now as it essentially will owe me nothing after it's saved me hundreds on tip runs etc! This is the 2.4 non turbo, it's not slow though! It's got the column shift which doesn't return to the middle with the springs so takes a little getting used to changing gear but it's a sweet engine and box it's only done 70k! Barely run in for one if these lumps haha

Looking forward to seeing this progress. I've nearly finished the camper conversion on my mitsubishi l300. Wish that was column change but they changed em to floor change later. If I ever find one that's been broken I'll swap mine to column change.

Does anyone know a simple way of getting the side sliding door to open wider at all? I mean further away from the body?
I will be trial fitting the wheels and will be rolling the arches but I'm a little worried they will be flared too much that the door won't be able to open the whole way haha, worse comes to worse I'll just have to limit the travel in the door slider so it doesn't go that far back!

If its only for fine adjustment put a couple of washers between the door and the bracket on the 2 top and bottom front bolts. Theres some adjustment in the sliding bit as well, but any tweeks would stop the door sitting flush when closed. Seen a few with Frontera wheels without any mods.
On my other van the rust and previous repairs had caused the door to warp catching the door card when it opened and sticking out in the top corner when closed.
