Just looking for little bit of advice re importing a 1983 car from Germany. I take it I don't have to pay vat etc on that? What documents do I need from Germany to register it in the uk? Can I just get insurance based on the chassis no of the car?
Thanks, Lewis.

You'll need the German version of the logbook, and you'll need to do a NOVA declaration to HMRC as soon as the vehicle enters the UK.

You planning on driving the car? As if so you will need some German export plates made up (german number plates are not generally fixed to a car like ours are, so cars for sale will generally come with no plate)
Can't really help with getting them (never done it) but I believe they are called "Ausfuhrkennzeichen" if that helps googling??!
