Engine is pretty sweet too! That certainly is an impressive .... and deceptive Frogeye!

From Z1 to Z8.. Tribute Automotive are doing a Z3 based kit for this now. (Assuming that it’s a Z1 - my knowledge of BMW classics Is pretty useless)

Tried all the man maths I could to justifying buying this little beauty. Sold for something like $700. The catch is with no engine or tranny, and try as I might, I couldn’t find another drivetrain set up that was easy to fit. Would have made an awesome cafe racer!

Just in case people hadn't spotted it in the project cars thread, I may have been a little too tempted by this: I wholly blame this thread, and you in particular Wodge it's this post that led me to it!

Even if you restored the body to convert at a later date. Interesting that its a right hooker. .

Interesting that its a right hooker. I saw on a Late Brake Show video last week that circuit racers in USA are / were RHD as they race anti clockwise and it gave a better view of the track. I think I've remembered that the right way around! The side of the steering wheel followed the tradition in the country so that the first cars (Benz in Germany) were left hand drive as they drive on the right. The major exception to this was that racing cars were almost always right hand drive because it was better suited to circuit racing. In the USA Pierce-Arrow were an example of this and in Europe, most pre 1950 Italian Sports cars are Right Hand Drive, including all pre 1956 Lancia's. Remember also that every Bugatti is Right Hand Drive. EDIT : I've also just learned that in Italy they used to drive on the left so produced RHD cars as late as the early 1950s (Not sure what age that car is in photo)

I just found this pic and was shamelessly looking for an excuse to post it. I never really thought of it as 'cafe racer' look, but looking at it now all it needed was a bonnet strap. At least it made the right noises

Saw this photo today and thought of this thread. I know it’s not quite the CafeRacer British look, but this below is the first time I’ve seen a modified 356B/C that I’ve actually fancied owning. It was a new addition to our local Hot Rod drive in cruise night.

This from mfrv1 on the British Motor Show 2021 thread. I'd personally run it sans front bumper, but then I couldn't build anything so epic, so the owner can run it however the hell they'd like!

You'd need an Alfa 75 I had a (much too late) idea for this about a week ago. I should have bought it and somehow dropped it onto an MX5 backbone. Lots of work and a probably never finished project (and shameful waste of a rare classic) but it would have made some great dreams of driving!

I may or may not have just accidentally bought something similar, in a similar colour blue, in another country (damn is the Mrs ever going to kill me when she finds out) and was looking for Cafe Racer inspiration and saw this… I can’t go quite this radical (I do need a windscreen and roof) but a great looking cafe racer. Don’t think I’m going to be able to bring myself to swap out minilites for steels either (if I live long enough to import it into the US - this might be my last ever post and for sure the last post where I can still walk in a straight line…)
