I have some banded steelies which stick out of arch about 1 inch on the rears, the tread in arguably under the arch as has some stretch, BUT its just to grey an area and fear i'll be pulled every day by the Police. So question is by adding a plastic arch extension al a some Mini's, would that be enough to make it OK or still goin to get pulled for chat? Personally any honest answer is good as if its going to get me stopped all the time i can leave them off, i'm not desparate to here the right answers so much i'll ignore the ones i don't want to hear (they do look SOOOO good on the car)
cheers.

My banded steels stick out a tiny bit and I've never been pulled over. With arches covering them the likelihood would be even less, so I'd say go for it if you want to

thanks, i suppose really what mean is, can you widen your wheels as much as you like provided they are covered by an arch ? can the arch be a stick on plastic one or must it be like a proper molded or welded on one? sorry for these questions but i don't want 3 points for something so silly and the internet is awash with horror stories about this.

Properly fixed plastic arch is fine - they had them as standard on some vehicles. Can't see a problem with a stick on one as long as it isn't flapping about in the wind.

this should be better with a picture, before anyone gets worried about them sucking in kittens to their death and "think of the children!!!!!!!!1", these wheels aren't on my car, they were for like a day then i decided for me they stuck out too much...so don't panic. I'm not just rollin' around in them to cause trouble, i just want honest factual answer as to whether banded steelies are asking for it and if a plastic arch would suffice to keep it on the level.

technically the fronts look fine but rears are borderline.
are they both the same width and offset front to rear?
I would imagine some gti type arch trims would sort you out as its not a large amount.

Rears are 10 inch wide fronts 9 inch, i have some arches on the way to me and i shall see if I can fashion a nice looking arch, failing that will be sold on me thinks.

I'm not a kid and its not a thread for people take pop shots at certain car cultures, there's plenty of stuff out there to find what you like without having to resort to picking at other peoples cars. Aside from that wider tyres should always be at the rear where most grip is needed. I don't see the BTCC cars having wider front tyres?

No, a fwd car needs the wider tyre on the front, rwd on the rear.
btcc have to run the same size all round afaik.

Yes of course it is, a joke, tell us when your next gig is and i'll be sure to get some tickets......... This is an estate car so even though admittedly its an ascetic choice to go with wider rears, some vans are FWD and they have wider track at the rear, you know where the weight is, so this car isnt a track car its a working estate car used to lug stuff around......it handles with all the subtlety of Rolf Harris, with or without the wider rears. What annoyed me the most about your post was the fact you put "tsssk" which i haven't come across since the effin BEANO!!

Just fed up with all this car b1tchin' you get everywhere, we should all be car people at the end of the day, we are all a dying breed, eventually no one will be allowed to run cars that over a certain age and certainly not ones that burn fuel. Life is too short, I'm on edge cause my 4 year old is into hospital tomorow for a brain scan and is going under anesthetic, not looking foward to seeing him go through that, there is so much more important things going on than defending why i had bigger rears on a FWD estate car that is just a pimp wagon to lug sh1t around in that looks a bit cooler than most sh1t haulers on the roads..... all i wanted to know was are plastic arches ok to use to cover some rubber poke.

I don't think you'll get a definite answer tbh. I'd be unhappy running that sort of poke and paranoid about getting pulled. Plastic arches are fine (and can look good imo ). You're running some stretch too.. No one can say if you'll get pulled or not though, you'll have to suck it and see mate! I think it'd look good with the arches. Hope your boy gets better
