Yup. Been trawling it for years now, some cheap stuff to be had. Dirt cheap for selling too

I usually only use it for flogging modern cars, and when trying to buy something sensible.
Although I usually end up with knackered Jags from there for some reason.

They used to have a function that meant you could search the classic section, or cars older than a certain year. Since they dropped that it wasn't the same. Thinking about it, it used to be great.

Yeah, still look, but the thing that annoys me is when I put any make any model less than £1000 I get the first 4 pages of search results are "BMW lease from £225 per month" and "Window tints - privacy glass from £199"
Looking in the actual Autotrader mag the classic section is very thin now.

Looked, but only bought once. Phone for a few, but usually gone. Have advertised a couple of time, but usually get birmingham asian cabbies wanting to know "what is the best you will take" on the phone then "We can get them for half that round here". So WTF did you phone, and what use is a 3 door saab 900 turbo with a slightly dodgy gearbox to a cabbie anyway. I also peruse Loot (have bought two from there)and Fish4(bought one) for bargains. Some can still be had.

A bit of careful editing of URLs means you can weed out the lease cars fairly well.... example. Search for a Golf GTI at less than £1000 and the first eleventy pages will be for mk5's on a three-year deal at £225 or whatever. So edit the URL and where it says something like &minprice=&maxprice=1000 change it to &minprice=230&maxprice=800 and bingo, you're looking at only cars between £230 and £800! Should weed out most of the new cars. I did once start to code a top trumps game using Autotrader, as there's a way of putting a random number into the URL and it'll give you a random car and if they've filled out the form correctly, stuff like engine size and number of doors is always in the same place

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Its great for having a poke about on, loads of interesting stuff comes up, a lot of dealers have a package like me so whatever comes in, even if its a rusty shell of a Talbot Horizon, will go on there `cos the guys already paid for the space, he may as well bang everything on. Only prob with searching is its ok if youre searching Datsuns or Ford Cortinas as youre guaranteed to get some interesting results, if youre trying to find an old Escort or Mk1 Granada you`ve no chance you`ll get hundreds of 1998 examples to trawl through first.
Funnily enough I aslo seem to get a lot of calls from faraway on run of the mill cars that you could find in abundance anywhere - I think thats due to the distance thats displayed being very much "as the crow flies" or possibly even "as the crow flies to somewhere else thats not as far".
