Hmm... I tried the bumper on and although I like it from the front, it looks so ridiculous from the side that I just can't fit it until I also have skirts of some kind, its like 6" deeper than anything else on the car, in profile...so I'll put that on the back burner. In better news, I tried on a Maserati rim as I got them out to prep...and my seat arrived...remarkably comfy for a plastic chair haha.

OK - I keep buying more things and not fitting them lol... I did do the radiator and thermostat... I have now procured a nice punto 75 camshaft, a stainless 4-2-1 manifold, a voltmeter, nice new harness and pads and a few other bits... My custom throttle body turned up and is a thing of beauty, forgot to get pics tho... The wheels are ready for tyres too (195/45/14 Uniroyal Rainsport 2's), should do that today, I'm sure I will get all of the hate for painting such rare wheels, but I want black ones! sorry, mr Maserati... Wheels and seat / harness should be on / in by next week

Wheels are on... Had scrub on all 4 corners, so a mixture of grinding and rolling ensued...wasn't awful for a 1st try but 1 arch needed a quick skim of filler and will be getting some fresh paint. Anyhow...due to the wet paint I still couldnt wash it...and it is fresh off the jacks again so will settle more...but heres the rough idea!

Progress has been made, but it's in a bit of a grim, unwashed, broken state so just a few, awful poorly lit pictures to give you the rough idea! Currently driving my dads 5 door corsa B - I actually learnt to drive in it nearly 15 years ago (old!) and it's bloody awful - but doing me a favour and it will make the Cinq feel like a rocketship when I get it going again!!! (makes me realise how nippy it is for a 1.2 when driving a 'normal' 1.2 corsa - with 8 more valves too) Right - so - currently tucked up at work...here's a moody pic - I think I was having an off day and had basically just painted the tow-eye red then got bored lol... Then like I say not much in the way of pics but have a few before and afters, I will get some detailed pics once it's done and clean... My bedroom stash of tarty bits and throttle body, didn't realise how much I had accumulated... Bonnet had been raised by the previous owner as he was having clearance issues with the taller engine / airbox combo ... but the hinges are still primer which annoys me - so these will be painted... This also annoys me - big 3 way crank breather used to run to a (now blanked) point on the airbox, so is long, annoying and clatters against the strut brace - so chopped and joined in a shorter route, and will make up a nicer hose to replace entirely when I change the TB to my larger one... Before (the hose that runs along the brace) : New Route (temp hose tho) : Then stripped out the carpet annoying moulded peice that runs along the bulkhead and covers the blower motor etc - it just is ugly and tatty and annoying... But that leaves the blower motor exposed to suck in water or chunks of exploding engine etc so mocked up a cover to make out of ally... Then got onto the bodywork - my new wheels and mega chunky sticky tyres were hitting everything, all the time, and although they seemed to grip fantastically at 6mph, any faster and I'd get scrub! My plan all along had been a Kanjo-esque / tough looking car, and this one has long been my inspiration - the spaced front wings especially... So I decided to try spaced wings on the cinq - now - I am really happy with how they look, apart from the obvious panel gap at the rear, from the front it is one of those mods that you cant really see, as the front bolt and therefore the gap to the indicator still (just) pulled back to its original position, but the wing is then 30mm outboard, and nicely bulgey and awesome looking (finished pics will show really, these don't - it needs a side by side to demonstrate) for the mo just have a before and after from above... (to space I used a spacer and longer bolt between the inner arch and the wing support rod, and at the rear redrilled and spaced the hole at the base of the wing) Before: After: Rear arches - I attempted these and messed one up in a rush - so this time used more bravery, a larger hammer and just went mad - rolled and flared approx 1 inch, well happy... Before: After: The rear bumper mounts were also trimmed off - these won't be needed anymore - some kind of quick release will be happening, fronts were trimmed back but not removed to make room for wheels etc... That's about it for now, there are a load of other jobs going on here and there - but should start coming back together quite quickly now, with the new seat in, and harness, some tarty bits and vinyl outside - then MoT - see what it needs... Then the engine work begins - no emissions worries for a year

Progress is still being made, but slowed by a) me trying to be a perfectionist and b) every job creating 3 more! 2 of 4 arches have been cleaned, tidied and undersealed, including silly jobs that I will appreciate in the future, like putting tubing over light connections etc as i can't run arch liners now and they will get corroded / cruddy otherwise... The seat is also in, but it created work. It is soooo low down that the steering wheel was in my eyeline! Also 1 of the mounting points I planned to use for the harness was part of the old seat frame, so need to get a spreader plate and make a new mount, and I had to lower the column which was guesswork as the 'net only revealed custom bracketry jobs, but I found a way Vid shows the standard position at the top and new at bottom... And finally I found this Kanjo styled Honda City, such a similar shape... Need to get done asap!!!

I know we're mates and that, so I don't want to seem like I'm blowing your trumpet (I know you'd enjoy that), but I think this build is pretty visionary. Largely unloved starting point, unusual style of mods for the UK and all done on a budget with a performance focus. Can't wait to see it finished

I'd like to think it was a fairly formulaic (<- is that a word?) build...if it was on a civic! just working with what I have Colonelk maybe 1 dry pub meet is it just regular spray? I used those tyre pens on the starlet and they were cack!

So many fiddly jobs! Todays headache was the little 'password jdm' quick release rubber bandy circular doobries (no idea what they are called they came on a bumper of mine years ago) Anyway the countersunk allen headed bolts they come with are so short they barely reach through anything, so I had to machine down some slightly less pretty but longer bolts! Always something! But am very nearly at testdrive time now, just need to make an anchor plate and new hole for 1 of the harness points!

It lives again! Kinda - for like 4 days until its MoT lol. Got it back together to drive to the West Sussex RR pub meet. Thought I had solved 100% of the scrubbing until 1 fateful bump...the culprit being the tiniest (like maybe 4mm) return on the rear arch that I hadn't trimmed as the panel goes to 2 skins there...but that's easily sortable. Sit - rep... The seat is comfy (ish) Can't see any dial where the steering wheel is now Can't reach any controls Handles like a gnat Love it! Now to see what the MoT brings, I reckon handbrake, emissions...
