Hey everyone, I'm new here. I had a customer offer me a 1985 MG Metro, 80k and 2 owners from now, from the pics, including underside pics, it looks really clean... Tomorrow night I am going to view, what do these cars sell for, as i have no idea what to offer.
Depending on condition, if it is as clean as I am told, then I will probably leave standard, if not then mods away!

MG Metros, especially the Turbo versions, can only rise in value - one sold recently on Car and Classic for about £1500 or so and it was really nice - there's a turbo on there at the moment - concours and 7k miles from new; the asking price is a somewhat steep 15 grand!

Reiterate what was said in that they can only rise as they get rarer but be aware they rust everywhere and to get top money it would have to be really mint, once you start messing with welding etc on them I'd put money on it there will be a lot more lurking underneath. It's like anything retro now their commanding huge prices but I wouldn't get one for any reason other than profit. A dismal car 10 years behind anything Europe had to offer when launched, 4 speed, horrible ride/handling, hideous interiors, rust like no other, slow, a 4yr old could steal it and not even reliable. But in some ways that adds to the appeal plus its a piece of history now I suppose and over 25yrs old.

I always found the MGs to have pleasant looking interiors with the grey and red piping, red belts , neat steering wheel.

Easy to steal ? Understatement ! For whatever reasons my dad would buy metros for my mum , despite them being 4 geared shonky heaps . We had 3 stolen from us in about 18 months , all either burnt out or crashed in to things . All stolen from park and rides , probably by kids or sometimes just to get home as a free taxi . Oxford 1990s joyrider central !

I had a D reg Metro City (6 months old) and mate had a pre facelift B reg MG Metro. The MG was in a different world to my base model and drove nicely so I'd say "go for it". A chap at work had two MG Metro turbos (pre and then post facelift B Reg). That went like stink and a bit too manic for me - there again it could have been his driving !
