The back box on my 635 snapped off last night. I've got a system ordered but it's going to be at least 4 weeks before it arrives so I need a quick fix. I've called the local garages in the hope of getting some steel from a scrap system or some new pipe but none were interested in helping. Does anyone have any ideas? I just need about 4ft of 2.25" pipe!
Thanks
James

The places I called weren't interested in helping but that was over the phone so I might try dropping by.

www.metalmaniauk.comI bought the 2" pipe for my exhaust from them. Think it was a 3m length. Might not be all that useful to you but I thought I'd throw it up there.

Without knowing details; in the past it has worked for me as an emergency-repair to just weld pieces of sheet metal on the backbox & pipe, hammer them around and weld them up. If neccesary multiple pieces. It's not pretty, but lasts for a bit.

In the past I've built whole systems from random sections scrounged from the skips of Pitstop, Kwikfit and the like. Do ask first though!
Decent motor factors keep various general exhaust components including lengths of tube as already mentioned.

In the end I went to the supermarket, bought some beers and the local exhaust place suddenly became very helpful and cut me some lengths of pipe from the scrap bin. The result isn't pretty but the exit is in the right place and it sounds pretty good so I can't complain. Thanks for all the suggestions guys!
