Just as you solve some problems another comes along... Finished getting through a list of jobs, reversed out the garage and saw a trail of what I thought was water... Until I smelt fuel. Balls.
This is the regulator.

And it suddenly started leaking from just under the dial/adjustment knob bit...

I've dismantled it but haven't the foggiest how it's supposed to look when it is working, so I'm not sure what's wrong, apart from a split in this rubber bit.

The split can clearly be seen here.

Is this orange rubber bit supposed to be detached? Obviously it's not meant to be split in any way but I'm wondering if it's supposed to be permanently sealed to the bottom half of the regulator? If so could I use some kind of glue/sealant around the edge to stick it back down? This is my only car so I can't easily pop out to pick up parts or anything...
If it matters, I'm running a 2.0 Pinto on bike carbs.
As always, the shared wisdom of the Retro Rides members is much appreciated!
