Will a turbo off a nissan fairway taxi 2.7 td fit on a nissan 2.7 1993 fairway taxi none turbo if so any idea what bits will be needed.I have looked on the net but no luck yet in finding any info thanks

First and mostly it will need a turbo fuel pump with the capability to increase fueling under boost, secondly check the comnp ratio of the 2 "sometimes" the turbo version has a lower comp ratio, not usually with diesels but sometimes they do and if i say they don't the chances are they will so check to be sure cos i'm not  Get a pic of the 2 as the inlets can be differant usually poiting in differant direction  |

You would probably need the pistons also can't see there being any other difference other than that really
Weren't these engines in another car or made by someone else for these taxis ??

The td27 engine is a development of the early engine so possibly parts are interchangeable
Imagine its doable but you really need to have both motors to take a good look at

don't dismiss the possibility that the NA engine internals may be of a vastly lower quality/strength - much like the NA XUD engines. The conrods were made from chilled butter, and the crank from case-hardened chewing gum, in comparison to the turbo versions

Thanks for that will it make much difference with the turbo.Looks like i might be better just getting a 2.7td if there is a lot of difference

there's also every chance it's an identical engine, just with a slightly different pump, and manifolds however. Without the engines in front of us in bits, you just can't tell I'm afraid.
But I'd personally look at finding an existing turbo lump - as it'll come with the aforementioned pump, and the turbo already fitted (hopefully, lol)

Right thanks for all the help.I would have brought a none turbo as i thought you could just add one at a later date.Anyway update i have now brought a 2.7 td engine and auto box out of a Austin cab.I have tryed to find out more info on the engine and auto box fitted in other cars that people have fitted but no look i have googled for hours.

Its a engine and auto box out of a P reg Austin carbody taxi so whats the difference as i have no idea apart from its a turbo. Thanks

well the turbo version never got fitted to a taxi as far as i'm aware....
a TD27 is the normally aspirated version and the TD27T would be the turbo version.
TD27Ti is turbo intercooler and TD27ETi is turbo intercooler with electronically controlled fuel pump.

Right on the ebay listing it said TD27T It does have a turbo and a intercooler on the front which ever one i have will i have problems with it being auto getting it working.I will get a photo up.

yeah get a pic up. i have no idea what you intend to fit it too???!
but it will be easy enough as long as it's mechanical fuel pump. pre 95ish...?

Well its a P reg so 1996 so i may have problems then.If its not mechanical can it be swapped for one.Its going in a old truck 1950s well i hope.

Right i have asked the guy who i got it off.He said its a mechanical pump and cable throttle so looking good i think.
