Ka's are cool.
Bet you didn;t think I'd say that now did ya?
SWMBO had one.
They are the true successor to the Mini legacy. A wheel at each corner, cheap volume sales hatch, tinny metal, they have some rust issues.... Not to mention PAS rack failues and the front lower wishbone bushes...
but they are a hoot to drive for sure.
I have seen a couple of Cosworth engined ones. They must fly. I also saw a turbo Zetec one in a magazine. Also seen a few hot ones on the net. Many of which were spoolt with body kits too but some firepower where it counted.
I actually quite like the old OHV ones, nice spread of torque.
A modern classic for sure.

I bought the missus a Black KA for her daily to an from uni...crackin 1.4i engine, quick as a ferret down a rabbit hole and really fun to drive.
i think they look like a piece of an eggbox on wheels but maybe in the future they will be standing out....we all know how long fords can last if you want them too so no doubt there'll be plenty around in 35-40yrs time!
superlights eh? might suggest that to the missus, sounds like it'd look pretty good!

Not to mention PAS rack failues and the front lower wishbone bushes... Fully agree with you. I actually like 'em with the black plastic bits, they start to look a bit Halfords with colour coded bumpers (even the factory ones). The interior is about as basic as you can get with large areas of painted metal so to have a basic exterior too suits it. Subtle lowering and some different wheels. i.e. not Fox Racing! Maybe hark it back to the olden days with some RS 7-spokes, or ATS Classics. Dish suits them well, they already have the wide-arch look from the factory so you need to make the wheels look wide too. I'm sure Ford design lower wishbone failures into their cars as a matter of course, maybe they make far more out of 6000-mile replacements than they do selling the car in the first place! A bit like the Sony Playstation profit model, sell the thing at a loss then make money on games Our mondeo has had four wishbones in two years and I reckon one is on the way out again.

I'm unsure about these but they're cheap to buy, insure and run so they're gonna be popular for a while. I hate the whole kit thing nowadays so nice rims, stance and paint would be the way to go for me. This one looks kinda cool but I'd change the rims..

ive got alot of time for the ford Ka, spent a long time pootling around the south of spain in one and it was a really nice car to drive.
they definatly look good with subtle mods adn i fully agree that they'l be a car for the future. if i wanted something to eat up some motorway miles instead of the mini then id definately consider one. liking the idea of ats classic or even alley cats on one

Was driven round in a new SportKa and wasn't much impressed with it, leather interior was pretty classy though.
I think the ones with colourcoded bumpers look considerably better than the grey bumpered ones though - the back end of a grey bumpered Ka looks like an obese man in underpants. Like most things though, just putting the correct set of wheels on would transform the looks. I like the idea of a turbocharged sleeper one, too.

I must admit even i've been thinking about Ford KA's ever since my landlord offered me his R plate for £250. I think the euro look would really suit it, totally smoothed over a set of wide steels or ATS classics. When they first came out i thought they were the ugliest car on the road.

the back end of a grey bumpered Ka looks like an obese man in underpants. LoL! So true! I absolutely hated them at first, now I can just about stand them and just the other day I found myself cooking up a recipe for one- I was thinking maybe using those big silly arches to their best advantage by painting them cream, contrasting dark red paint everywhere else and running chrome smoothies and whitewalls, and drop it on its ar$e, naturally! I reckon that would look crazy, like some sort of 40's yank Or, it might look absolutely pez

there is a girl who keeps a horse at the same farm as my girlfriend who has one. its a maroon red one, lowered, dished [slightly chav wheels] and last time i saw it, i found myself looking at it and "finishing" it.
on the other hand, last autumn we bought one for my 80 year old gran to drive...

I also prefer the black bumper ones. What really makes me laugh is when someone has a barryed up one with the black bumpers and a budy kit all colour coded and it looks omplete w@nk with the balck bumpers LOL.
Anyway, my thoughts were chrome smoothies & white banded tyres, maybe a bit of a stretch, and a fair amount of slam. It would have to be solid red or black or something.
I have another thought but its so cool I'm keeping it to myself until one day when maybe I'll do it or not, but nobody else has done it yet and I'm not having you get the drop on me. I have been checking it out and it might even work... although the bonnet line of the Ka is tricky

Back of the net..... See this is the difference being in this forum, could you imagine if this was suggested on MIGweb or dare I even say it VZi? It's all about the cars here and I like it. I have always liked the shape of these and when I drove one it didn't dissapoint. Future classics, hmmm I reckon so.

Ka's are cool, although people can never seem to agree on how to pronounce the name (Kay-Ay? Kar? Ka?). My mum had one years ago, which I used to love hooning about in. I believe I understeered it into a kerb one night and bent the wheel quite badly. I popped the spare on and threw the bent rim into a hedge. All was fine until Mum had a puncture one night and went to get her spare.... I think the key to doing a Ka should be keeping the body nice and simple, probably a flat colour rather than a metallic and slam the thing into the weeds on some wide dished rims. Put a cherry bomb on it too for the authentic old mini vibe! ;D

Ka's are cool, although people can never seem to agree on how to pronounce the name (Kay-Ay? Kar? Ka?). We had a whole rant/thread on this topic. The proper pronunciation is "Kah" - its an ancient egyptian word meaning your eternal creative life force or spirit.
