Desided to sell my motorbikes and get a weekend toy. Something with a bit of pork Soft top would be nice Something thats a bit different or not seen to often. Something thats going to hold its value.
What would you buy?

For £4000 you are getting into the edge of Porsche Boxster territory so I'd find a little extra and go that route.

I had pretty much the same amount last year and I figured it would just disappear bit by bit if I didn't spend it on something that would hold its value. And something I could enjoy more than looking at an ISA bank statement each month. I think I made the right decision....although I'm sure some would argue otherwise. Edit: I'm aware that my choice doesn't come near your criteria, I was simply pointing out that I concur, completely, with your way of thinking.

3rd gen Trans am or Camaro ?? both come in under 4k. Don't see many around and its a V8 so a nice sound track when the T bar roof is off.

What would you buy? You could get a good ex-police car for that , it may not have 'pork ' , but may smell of it inside !!

I'd buy a Porsche 944 S2 Cab like this one that's for sale on eBay now... www.ebay.co.uk/itm/H721-ATO-/151295570832?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2339eb3390#ht_38wt_1348Do it, you know you want to.

You could invest it in my Bimmer 1602, by buying it an S14 engine.....I will let you come and look at it every weekend, which will be better than those ISA's. I'll even let you watch me drive it !! LOL. ;-)
I would look into a 944 S2, but not a rag top.

I reckon a nice early 2.8 Sport could be a good investment as they are about as cheap as they are going to get now.
