Ok so the Turbo is gone on my 94 Disco, major play in the shaft/bearings, engine smokey etc.
Can get a standard replacement Garret Turbo for around £500 but considering upgrading to a Hybrid Turbo Technics unit, only trouble is this comes in at a whopping £1100, big money but apparently the Hybrid is nearly twice the size of the standard Turbo so a lot more power and torque, really, really tempted but finding it hard to justify.
But it would be hard to justify for anyone to spend £1100 on a part for an old Disco.

The truck has had a ton of work done and money spent over the last few years by the last three owners including myself, it's pretty pampered and is far from being an old bomber.
I will be fitting the Turbo myself so have no garage/labour costs to pay.
Truck already has an expensive Allysport Intercooler, EGR bypass mod, straight through exhaust (as in clear pipe, no cat or silencers at all), tuned pump etc so will not need any other mods to suit the bigger Turbo.
Other than the Turbo the motor is healthy, with 134,000 miles on the clock.
If i bought the Standard replacement Turbo i could use the money saved to get my two O/S doors painted which would probably come in at around £500, maybe less.
I have no intention of selling the truck in the near future.
