Model: Volkswagen scirocco GTX
Year: 1988
Mileage:124,000 aprrox
Tax:6 months
MOT: June
This is one of the last GTX’s and as such has a rare body coloured body kit. GTX’s normally had black body kits.
This car had an extensive rebuild a few years back where everything was stripped off and replaced or refreshed. This included new break lines front to rear, fuel lines, fuel tank, rear axle bushes etc. The work was under taken by a member of the Scirocco Register UK who lavished time and attention on the rebuild. We have a copy of the thread that he wrote on the build which documents with pictures everything he did.
The car is quite an unusual colour Paprika Red, I have never seen another this colour. It had various sections repainted while it was being refurbished. The body is in excellent condition and completely rust free save for a little surface rust on the front jacking points. On the whole the panels are all straight except one ding below the passenger rear light. The paint is in fantastic condition and was done to a very high standard. The car has some nice modifications including Scala, louvered rear lights, smoked Black front indicators imported from Germany, as well as a genuine Kammi eye brow spoiler. The car had new fog lights fitted when it was painted. All the lights have been up graded with more powerful bulbs.
The car comes with two sets of wheels, the first being its original Castellets which now act as winter wheels and have good quality winter tyres with plenty of grip. The second set are Renault Turbines. In my opinion these wheels make this car look phenomenal. They where professionally refurbished by Lepsoms in Swindon two years ago. They are diamond cut and anthracite. They have a set of matching Toyo proxies with loads of tread on all four tyres.
This sirocco is a fuel injected model (as where all GTX’s) Engine wise it is completely standard. It does benefit from having a Jetex stainless steel exhaust. This has a nice rumble but is not boy racerish! The down pipe was also replaced at the same time the Jetex system was fitted last year.
The car has recently had new brakes front and rear. Discs and pads on the front and new shoes and Drums on the rear. The breaks on this car are fantastic and benefit from having Goodridge braided lines fitted.
The interior is verging on perfect with excellent uncraked dash, and full GTX sport seats which, are free from the normal cigarette burns and bolster wear. The carpet is plush and unmarked. The parcel shelf is uncut. The original speakers have been upgraded and the car has a CD player. The car also has a leather steering wheel which, originally came from a Storm special edition car.
This car has been maintained no expense spared. It has been both a closeted toy and a daily driver. I am sure there is loads more I have missed.
This car is a fantastic example of the Scirocco model. It drives on point and handles like it is on rails. If you are looking for an excellent example then this will be worth a look. Possibly one of the best in the country perhaps?
