I don’t really want to sell this but due to an impending house move, it looks like I am not going to have anywhere to keep it.
My 1996 328i sport coupe automatic is up for sale.
This is definitely a project for someone as it has a number of issues that need rectifying, the biggest issue of which is that the engine has low compression on one cylinder, I am guessing this is due to Nikasil failure on one of the bores, as it also uses oil.
Other issues;
The backup battery has gone in the alarm sounder so the arm goes off, when the battery is plugged in, the sounder has been disconnected but the light still flash, but as the car has been parked up now for almost 3 years with the battery off.
There is rust at the bottom of the driver’s door, and it’s starting to show on the arches on the lip.
It is artic silver with black leather done 109k miles. With no rear spoiler
There is a set of unit tuning coilovers waiting in the boot waiting to go on, I have already fitted the rear struts and new top mounts as these had failed. Also to go on are the poly RTAB bushes which again are in the boot.
It is fitted with BBS RC040 wheels which you don’t see very often which are basically narrow style 5’s at 7.5 inch all round with 205 40 17’s, almost new falkens on the front and bad ones on the back.
It has had a bump at some point in the past on the Front drivers sides, as there is evidence of welding on the inner arch, I think due to this it is missing both front inner plastic arches and the ducting from the bumper.
I have both clear lights and original amber lights all round
There is an RC041 spare wheel
10” vide amplified sub box in the boot but no head unit
In reality it needs a new engine, I wanted to do a manual swap at the same time.
Open to reasonable offers but would like £750 for it as it would break for this.
No MOT or TAX and registered SORN
I didn’t even put it in for an MOT when the last expired so I don’t know if it would fail on anything else. But would presume the brakes etc would need looking at.
Last time I started it up around 6 months ago it has started a ticking noise, which I guess to be a sticking lifter.
Only 1 key, but I do have two immobiliser fobs (laserline touch ones)
