Terraclean ? Has anyone had there car cleaned with this system [ Ed china'a clean fuel system ]? I'm thinking of getting my daily done as its only around £80 . Just thinking it could do miracles for some of the old cars on here that have old engines which havent been apart yet . www.terraclean.co.uk/

It depends what engine it is. I believe that direct injection engines don't really benefit from it, as the inlet manifold/system isnt touched. Someone please tell me I'm wrong though as both my Golfs would benefit from having their inlets decoked.

I'm really not sure , but i suppose it would clean the chambers . valves etc and even into the manifold and exhaust etc . I was suprised at the prices really thought it would be £300 or something .

This is just the latest in a long line of snake-oil treatments aimed at gullible motorists.

It's injected into the fuel system before the fuel filter so yes it will pass through the inlet manifold.

Interesting , its always going to be a marmite issue , as that thread seems . I suppose it should be better than tank additives though .

Had 2 of my cars done when I considered becoming an agent for them, both petrol and diesel ran better and quieter.

It's injected into the fuel system before the fuel filter so yes it will pass through the inlet manifold. Not on direct injection In theory its a great idea, sadly as most cars have some form of EGR, you get carbon, air & oil mixed with no fuel to wash it away meaning inlets end up like this:

It could be of benifit then , i know that a condensed fuel charge on the valve marks it , to what effect its detrimental I'm not sure but it will slow airflow i suppose .

It was mentioned to me that there was a new egr cleaning system in the pipeline, looks like that could be it.

I'm sure i've seen something similar done with a water/ methanol injection system into the inlet manifold, supposed to clean everything out - I think i even saw pictures of an engine that had been stripped after it had been run on it for a while and it was clean, I used to run diesels on a neat Forte injector cleaner when the emision testing first came in, you'de be amazed how much that shifted in the time it took to run through a can.

If your car is carbed just give it a good Italian tune up getting it nice and warm, remove the air filters and with the revs held high spray in distilled or filter water when the car falters increase the revs so it doesn't cut out, repeat a few time and take it for another blast.
That the 1970's version of terraclean.
