Exceptional example of a 1992 MX5 MK1 Eunos J Import. Completely rust free and has only been on the road in the winter ONCE in the past 12 years. Low mileage too! @ 64979 Miles, 103967 Kilometres.
I am a car enthusiast and I bought the car last July from an elderly bloke who owned a farm and had owned the car for 12 years. Circumstances saw that the car had only ever seen the road in the summer and had spent 12 winters off the road. This is evident when you look at the arches and underneath the car!! Original arches, no welding ever been done and won't need to be done any time in the foreseeable future if looked after. The car was re-under sealed and cavity's filled with Bilt Hamber products before last winter.
I absolutely love this car, however I am being forced to sell due to a change of circumstances and having just moved house, I have lost the use of a garage. The car has only covered around 5000 miles in my ownership.
Its a 1992 MX5 Eunos. 1600cc 115bhp model. The better Long Nose Crank engine with the VLSD that comes on the import cars.
The engine is sweet, no tapping from the lifters, no burning oil or smoking, it revs freely and confidently and idles as it should.
The gearbox is smooth from cold and when warm, no stiff changes into first or reverse when its cold like some, it's always had regular oil changes.
Below is a list of work starting in 2013 and ending in 2014.
Previous owner fitted brand new clutch slave cylinder may 2013
+ Clutch Kit 2013
+ New Soft top in 2013
+ New tyres in 2013 (These still have 7mm tread all 4 corners!)
+ Gearbox and Diff oil service may 2013
+ Clutch and brake fluid may 2013
+ First job I did when I bought it was Full cambelt kit from MX5 Parts plus extras, thats rollers, tensioner, belt, new mazda crank seal, new mazda cam seals, new genuine mazda cam cover gasket and waterpump + gaskets (Done in October 2013).
+ First Service in my ownership August 2013 - Fuch's Supersynth Titan 5/40 fully synth + oil filter.
+ New Air Filter, clutch switch and Water temperature sensor (The one linked to ECU) January 2014.
+ New NGK Spark Plugs and New HT Spark Leads January 2014
+ Just had a second service on 14/04/14 - Gulf Tec plus 10/40 Semi-Synth + Filter, 75-90 GL4 in the gearbox and 75-90 GL5 in the Diff and a brand new reverse light switch as the old one failed.
+ Brand new Crystal Clear non-sealed Headlamps Jan 2014.
+ Replacement ISCV and genuine Mazda TB gasket Feb 2014.
+ Underneath the car and cavitys were treated to a Underseal end of september 2013 with Bilt Hamber Dynax S50 for the cavitys and box sections and Dynax UB tinned version for underneath the car. I bought Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 to convert rust but only ended up using a tiny amount on the frame rails!
Having been under the car two weeks ago I can see its definitely done its job, as the car looks clean, rust free and its all still there.
For those interested its also had uprated door speakers and uprated headrest speakers so you can hear the radio with the roof down!
The soft top has started to wear where it pinches as it folds down but it is completely watertight and has been patched from the inside with locktite black silicon sealer and black vynil so its not noticeable now. The car over winter was completely Bone Dry inside! Some Mx5's leak through the seals at the front but this one is bone dry!
The body is Excellent! (I also had it machine polished recently) The photos do not do the car's colour justice as its not the best camera, its a deep red and the entire car is free from dents and knocks. Drivers side and Passenger side are in great condition. The only issue is a 2 inch key mark on the boot which has been filled in with a touch up pen. It is in the photos but its not bad enough to notice! this car doesn't look its age
Comes with a style bar, chrome vents, soft top cover, previous MOT, documents relating to Servicing on my part + cambelt etc + Alpine head unit. The mileage will not increase as the car is parked at my parents house in locked off road parking.
Good points at point of sale being:
12 months MOT
3 months Tax
Recent Timing belt Kit + Water Pump and major seals
64979 miles
Does not leak oil or consume water! - Cam cover gasket is bone dry, as is the sump gasket and Cam + crank seals.
Tyres with 7mm tread
Serviced Regularly (see above)
Completely standard and not abused
Not Drifted
No rusty arches
Bad points:
Passenger side window motor cables need replacing. Motor works, Cables have gone.
Air-con needs re gassing
Front drivers side TSI lets water in but still functions! (I will replace this if I can source a replacement before sale)
This car needs nothing and is ready for you to just drive and enjoy without any worry. This is a PERFECT Base for any enthusiast to make it their own.
Price is £1750 ono.
