Hey All,
I rarely post unless it's about cars, but on this I feel it's worth giving people the heads up.
Yesterday I received this email from Imageshack
"It take two to tango.
Imageshack has been hosting images since 2004, for millions of people around the world. We are thankful to everyone of our customers, who have shared many beautiful photos using our service. Today we are at a cross roads in our journey, when some very important decisions have to be made. We want every one of our customers to continue using our freshly redesigned site, with many useful and easy to use features. Our commitment to our customers is stronger than ever before. Since the launch of our new site we listened to your voices and tried to do everything within our power to make the transition to the new platform as smooth as possible. We are continuing to implement new features that many of you have requested. You can get a piece of the new ImageShack by becoming a premium member, for only $2/month, enabling us to continue hosting your images for years to come. If we do not hear from you, we will presume you are not coming back and no longer require our services.
Would you like to upgrade now or delete your account? "
I take that to mean that they have reneged on their February statement that they would continue to host 500 images free for unregistered users. The majority of the Datsun build photos were originally hosted on imageshack, and I don't have a 'saved' build thread anywhere.
Given how many build threads there are on here, and how hard Hotwire and the rest of the Mod team work keeping the site in one piece, it's only proper we make an effort to try maintain an archive of builds. Hence I will probably at great expense of my free time, begin transferring the photos over to a non-lousy hosting service.
If anyone has an easy free hosting solution (the idea of now paying imageshack for what is a relatively lousy paid service compared to the paid for competition, galls me) to suggest, I'd be glad to hear of them.
Take heed 'no longer require our services' means they gonna delete your photos.
