Ok,
The time has come for me to rationalise the fleet a little, so the Benz has to go.
It's given me over 3 years faultless service, with literally nothing needed other than service items.
It starts and runs beautifully. This is the 3.0 litre 12 valve 187bhp straight six. Silky smooth and a shed load of torque. It really shifts when you need it to.
4-speed Automatic. I mean, who wants to drive a car like this and have to shift their own gears. It's just not the done thing!
It's now covered approx 190K miles but still drives perfect.
Good bits;
Reliable, comfortable, typical MB 1980's/90's build quality
All electric windows/mirrors work as they should. Even the seatbelt butlers work!! (Although the trims keep falling off! Lol)
Lowered
Tinted windows
Staggered 18" genuine MB alloys with good tyres. Also included are the original 15" alloy wheels
HID conversion. (Will remove if not wanted)
Freshly taxed (6 months)
2 months (IIRC) MOT
Full cream leather interior with good seats. No rips or tears, just the usual 'patina' cracking, but nothing major
Sunroof
Dual zone climate control
Wiring through to boot for subwoofer/amp etc, or can remove if required.
Alarm and immobiliser, complete with two sets of keys and remote fobs which give you remote central locking with alarm activation.
HUGE history file. It was fully MB maintained up until approx 4 years ago and was in the same family (chinese takeaway owners I believe).
I have a box file with over £9k of receipts for service and maintenance
Fuel economy is not as bad as you think. I return an average or 30-32 mpg on mixed town/a-roads/m-ways, and to be fair, I reckon that's damn good for a car of this stature. It also has plenty of grunt and when you kick it down, it really shifts. (Sometimes a little too much so, as my endorsements will testify)
Bad bits;
Couple of patches of laquer peel on the bonnet.
Usual rusty spot on front offside wheel arch
Rusty spot, which has now perforated, under rear offside taillight.
There are a couple of other bubbles around the car, but otherwise it's solid.
Couple of chips in the windscreen, but no cracks.
Nearside headlight wiper doesn't self park.
Has an annoying knock on the rear suspension. I've checked all the bushes and they seem fine, but kinda sounds like a shock absorber bush. (I just turn the stereo up )
Have some pictures;
Bonnet
Offside wheelarch
Underneath offside taillight
To be honest, I'm only selling because I'm going to have to start using my car for work, and need an estate. Plus it wouldn't be fair to this old barge
I'm asking £800 and I feel that's a fair price to reflect it's condition, and I've tried to be honest with it's faults.
I know I'll probably regret selling it, I did when I sold my 190e, but I need to reduce my overheads.
Pound for pound, I don't think there's much else to rival the feeling of driving these old MB's and the values are starting to climb from what I've seen.
Cruising around town in this really does make you feel like;
Any questions, or to view, just PM me or call/text 07843 604722
Cheers,
Paul
