1989 Peugeot 205 GTi 1.6 (Factory Sunroof, CL/EW)
Purchased new by a friend of mine as main transport for many years before being kept as a spare car for his various family members to borrow when needed. It was then parked for several years due to some work being needed but couldn’t bring himself to part with it. I managed to buy it from him last year and have now carried out many jobs and replaced many parts to bring it back to a high mechanical standard and achieve a new MOT.
It drives perfectly and I have used it for commuting duties for a fault free 1200 miles, it idles perfectly, uses no fluids and is returning 40 mpg.
It has a full file of every invoice and bill ever spent from new including original sales brochures, MOT’s and tax discs. All handbooks are present as are both ignition keys and locking wheel nut keys.
The paintwork was originally cherry red but has faded to orange and the tailgate paint has crazed badly and the plastic mouldings have discoloured so ideally needs a re-spray to make pretty, there is no rust and is 100% solid.
The parts I have replaced with new are as follows:
Discs, Pads, Front calliper, Wheel cylinders, Brake fluid, Clutch, Rear main oil seal, Clutch cable, Drive shafts and oil seals, Uprated lower engine mount bush, Steel jointed gear selector rods, Headlights, Heater matrix, Anti-freeze , Steel coolant pipe under wheel arch , Oil pressure switch, Reverse switch, Rad fan switch, Dash illumination bulbs, Front Dampers, Front Springs ,Front suspension top mountings, Wishbones, Drop links, Track arms, Track rod ends ,Steering rack gaiters, Rear Dampers (rear beam previously rebuilt), Tyres, Battery
The car is as original as it would be possible to find, single family owned with fully documented history from day one.
