1969 Reliant Rebel
i bought this in july last year with no engine and box, but previous it had the engine and box that is now back in the car, reason why i bought it with no engine and box was because the previous owner took it out to put into his orange pick up but few weeks after me buying this one he decided to sell the pick up so i also bought that to take the engine and box back out to put back into my grey one, then sold the pick up one, yes confusing i know.
so anyway the car now runs and drives and stops
the car is running a 1098cc moggy engine with a type 9 5 speed ford box. i was told by previous owner that engine had a rebuild and different cam in, and gearbox had a new clutch but i have no proof of this, but engine is sweet.
this is basically rough and ready if I'm honest, the previous owner that did the conversion did not do the best of jobs. for example my opinion engine mount brackets want remaking as they don't look strong enough. my intention was to get it through an mot and use it and have it as a running project for the year and still be able to take to shows, but with being 19 i cant get insured on it. so i have lost interest to get it finished, but for the past 10 months it has been a project for father and son. my dad has his own car for shows so therefore would be pointless for him to insure it.
the jobs that need doing before mot is, wants the window winder going back on and door card fitting, and also exhaust could do with another bracket on it, and 1 or 2 tweeks with other little bits with a weekends work i would say this would be ready for its mot. and if i don't get much interest me & my dad will get round to moting it then put it on ebay which i don't want to due to the amount of time wasters on there.
the chassis is good, the fiberglass body has cracks but i think that the previous owner did a rubbish paint job and its the paint thats cracking not the fiberglass.
i have loads of track rod ends i will throw in with it, brake shoes. and few other bits. brakes are standard all round
it has been lowered all round by previous owner, which again my opinion is that its to low on the front, but it is on adjustable shocks so will lift up.
this car will be good fun once moted and on the road. and the body could be left as it is as its still presentable
the engine and gearbox must be worth abit on its own with the conversion.
tyres are new.
will need new carpets.
