anyone know there stuff as I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to EFI problem is my 635 has lost its spark and wont start, all the ht seem fine, power to the coil, relays seem to be ok - power to em and out of them only thing left is the ecu or sensors i surpose oh - one more problem - nagging wife - anyone know how to turn off the 'get rid of it' mode?  |

problem is my 635 has lost its spark and wont start, all the ht seem fine, power to the coil, relays seem to be ok - power to em and out of them what year is your 6? it sounds like the usual thing. if its early motronic, it'll have 2 bellhousing mounted sensors that pick up from a stupid interference fit/roll pinned metal lump. one day the lump falls off and you have no more sparks. pull the sensors out and turn the engine over while looking for the peg. it'l be easier with 2 people, you're looking for a square of steel about 10mm square by 4mm thick. the sensors may commit suicide (break) when you take then out, plenty of wd40 helps- lots! if the lumps not there (worst case is when they let go at speed and demolish the sensors) its a new flywheel I'm afraid. £75+vat for an s/h one from my work, plus postage. I've seen wlede ones, but I'd be a little wary of throwing the timing out. as for simpler stuff, check the carbon brush in the dizzy cap hasn't fallen out, stick a plug in the coil ht lead and see if it sparks. possibly (unlikely) the coils broken down. hope some of that helps  |

cheers b&d, in answer to yer qestion its a 1982 but has had an engine out of a later highline at some point. allthough as far as i can tell its all wired up using an earler loom.
the thing that puzzles me is that it was starting and running ok and i just came to it and no go- presumably if the peg had dropped out while she was running it would have died in some sort of dramtic fashion? or could it just drop out when laid up?
