My MK2 Jetta GTI 16v is for sale.
Bought it recently but it is not my cup of tea.
Genuine car not converted.
Totally standard condition.
Very rare.....doubt you will find another one for sale.
149k
Drives very well, no smoke, doesn't overheat, use oil or water.
Very good condition for year. Body and paint all look original. Odd age related mark here and there.
Interior nice and clean, no holes in drivers bolster.
MOT to Jan 2015 and Tax to July 2014. No advisories at all on last MOT.
No history in my possession unfortunately.
Price reflects condition and rarity.........more interesting and individual than a Golf in my opinion.
Viewing welcome.
Car is located in the Durham area.
Couple of things to work on as with all old cars.
Rear headlining has sagged. I've made quite a neat repair but if your fussy you may wish to replace it.
Rear bumper has greyed with age. I'm going to try the heatgun trick to bring it back to life.
Rear parcel shelf has a hole next to the original speaker.
A handful of minor rust bubbles here and there but hardly noticeable around rear end, rear lower valance, front valance due to stone chips and minor bubbling in the usual mark to wiper blank.
Car is located in the Durham area.

New price for a quick sale.......
Come and view this car you would not be disappointed.
first to see will buy as the old saying goes.
Got my eye on a tasty new ride and so only asking what that costs.
The Jetta is worth 2k plus imo but nobody seems to have much spare cash at the moment.

Hi all.
Well this is a lesson for someone who thinks they know everything about cars.
Just had a nice fellow retro rides member here serious about buying the car.
Unfortunately the history check (which I didn't bother with when I bought it) shows it was a CAT C in 1997.
I love old cars but now have now trust in this vehicle which I use to drive my kids around.
First to offer £500 or near that gets the car or I will go through the long process of breaking it.

Has to sell, gutted at the price but technically its worth nothing as it is. as there is no way of finding out if it has ever had a roadworthiness VIC since it was written off.
I don't trust the car anymore and need a safe set of wheels to put my kids in.
Just wish I hadn't chucked the money at it that I have including what I paid.
You see a genuine old skool VW in this condition and the last thing going through your mind is history check.
Techinically I've got my money back as did some dealing over the last 2 years to work up to this via a £500 924, a £1400 Audi 80 Sport (loved that car shoot me for selling it) to arrive at a worthless excellent condition superb driving Jetta 16v.
I am now in the market for another retro ride but with not much more than £600 to spend its slim pickings!

I have to say, its ludicrous to say its worth nothing and/or is dangerous. It looks absolutely lovely!!! Its 26 years old so even the most trivial insurance claim on it for a broken headlight or whatever in the last 15-16 years is gonna write it off. And what percentage of cars drive round for 15 years without any insurance ‘incident’? Not that many I bet. So it previously being a write off is realistically no big deal, I bet a huge chunk of 26 year old cars have got a marker on them, but once they get beyond a certain age (and beneath a certain value) no-one bothers checking because it just doesn’t matter. As for it being dangerous for your kids – based on what? If you think its got some hidden horror like being two halves welded together you could easily get a bodyshop or someone who repairs write-offs to inspect it and give you their honest point of view. An experienced eye can always find stuff like that if its there, especially if it was done a few years ago as ageing underseal and non-factory weld beads rusting up unevenly give the game away easily. I would rate the chances of there being anything to worry about at 1%, and if you get it inspected and they find nowt to report this would decrease to 0.05%. If you are then thinking you’d best not drive an old car because there ‘might’ be a 0.05% chance of some unspecified repair being carried out on it in the past, I would say just forget the whole job and get a new Focus on lease.
Hope I don’t sound like a gobby twart telling you how to go on but I think you have been far too harsh (unrealistically so) on the car and yourself! It looks like a total cracker. Keep the faith!
