Hope to get the frontbeam sandblasted soon so i can weld it up again. Aming to get the messurements accurate and for it to be max 5cm thick. Then i have made some extra centimeters of room for the engine. Ofcourse reinforced inside with extra supports.

Hrrmm. Did not think right from the start. So there was som doublework made. But that's the way its gone be anyways
Grinded out the inside and underside of the beam.
New sheetmetal welded in. A bit thicker to compensate and making it stronger.
The i sectioned the frontbeam.
I have some problems with the hight of the new Engine.
Seemwelded the joints inside the beam. Then sandblasted and cleaned of the metal. Will weld up and make it stronger with extra support inside. Then ofcourse paint and protect against rust.

Grinding and more grinding. Think , grind some more and Think again. Ackerman , scrub , cambergain , steeringangel and more. Brain working overtime.
Do not focus on the rust. Camera loves rust , will be sandblasted when ready.
Original front chassis almoust , spindle and steeringarm is the new ones.
Clean and shaved frontbeam.
Here is where the new coilover is supposed to come up. New mount for the coilover and the same for the upper a-arm. The hole for the suspension coilover is to small thou. Need to make that bigger.
Then in the end make tke whole beam , and front chassis stronger.

Still grinding away in the front beam. Have tested the steeringrack , look promissing.. But the again that has happened before
Anyways , have opened up the beam a little. That because the new coilovers needs more space to work. They are to my spec , adjusteble in height , bump & rebound.
Original dampermount and hole..
Grinded to make a larger hole.. The beam and mount will be reinforced later on.
Here it is supposed to house the chassie. It is space for a 10-11cm coil inside the bigger hole , with space to spare. The diameter of the new coilover 9cm. Clearence is good.
In this pic the lower controlarm is to much up. In is normal position its supposed to be a little bit lower. But the plan is to lower the mount in the lower arm by aprox 5cm. Then it will sit about 5cm lower then original , while the damper still has room to work.
The yellow line is the position of the new coilover. The original setup is more upright , close to vertical.

Full day in the garage. Lot of work and almost no visible Cut cut cut cut and cut some more. Then grind and grind . Weld a little. Cleaned down the beam again . Cut the other side , grinded clean the tower , mounts and unnecessary. Then clean and measure. After total grinding clean of attachments etc. so i did measured everything. The beam 's now 10cm wider overall compared to standard. So mounts for the frame against the car must be relocated. These are the same as before but changed spot on. Right sits now on the left and vice versa. This is due to the that they will fit right on if you move them in. So prepare before velding and grinding then weld in place. I'm no welding Phantom : hihi : Of course it will be boxed and strengthened against the mountingface later on : thumb right : Finally sandblasted all over the inside. Almost time to start piecing it all together again .

Blah blah blah : D I grinding on in more ways then one. One more day to the end. The day was to weld the beam. Grinding all welds and rust protection inside. Grind , grind , grind and grind some more. Can say without lying that Biltema(cheep carstuff stor) grinding discs is half as expensive as some more expensive oe. BUT , then it lasts at least half te time an ittaes double the time to grind a weldinjoint. Grind and weld. More grind and grind some more. FINALLY ! The beam whole again after ..... well I do not know since when. Feels like i have grinded , welded and sanded the curse word in a month. Pretty sick of it now : cool: Time to rustproof the inside. Epoxy first in the bottom. Mustard on the inside, yellow as a banana : p Paint before it hardens. Nice as hell with 2K so you do not have drying time. Why use any other paint even? The paint is Hagmans 2K Steelprimer. It is an Epoxy Primer.

Stick to the plan ..... Well that was the plan then.
But because the rims i wanted to have was so hard to find, I gave up after all. So I then bought some other wheels, Also favorites of course. By that I mean the BBS RY that's in thread.
But so completely by chance i was browsing the interweb. Shouldn't not have done it, accidently klicked and home came the rims which was Plan No.1. This time too cheap to resist. Fetish for rims anyone: rolleyes:

More work to do. Sandblasted the outside. Seemweld and box for coilovermount and chassiemount.. They will sit on top of the new tile. Coming later on , box and reinforce attachment to frame legs. Unable to measure and to box it now so i have to grind and redo after it is made. Drill and making for new holes for rust protection. Will do similar underneath. Seemwelded all that was not previously done. Behind all the parts and inside the boxed parts. Boxing the mounts and top. This is because the bracket against the frame legs are moved because of the widening. And then the coilover will come up through the hole and get new attachment there. AND in all this i have to fit a mount for the upper control arm here.. Epoxy primer on the outside. Shall paint another layer later. Hey , a yellow banana :oogle:

Dead stop :/ Shortage of new parts... Or yes anyway the stuff that i need and want. Must have coilovers and brake discs to fit everything on the front end. Then it would be good to fix the hubs with double bolt circles. So it is pretty slow for the moment. But anyway. Have welded the extra support between the lower wishbone mounts now. This is flat 4mm iron and it's following the beam shape in the way it's pressed. Maybe not the most rigid reinforcement, but it is double sheet inside the beam also. This reinforcement shall also house the brackets for the steering gear .... was the idea anyway. So now it's a straight line between the outer parts of the beam. Former and original is the beam like a banana. Pics of welds're worthless unless you are welding professionals. Always looks **** when on fotos but really they look pretty ok in reality.

Not much happening right now. Waiting for money and new parts.
Anyways , i have ordered 330mm mercedesdiscs.
So when they arrives i can start fabricating adaptors for the brakesadels. My Garagemate bought a plasmacutter so i am going to test that one on the adaptors.
