Nope.
If it had some 'J' badge on it I would still state that it is fugly and poorly proportioned.
I don't car where it is from, if it's ugly it's ugly. Give me a RA28 Celica every time over that... at least the Celica looks like a proper 'stang ;D

The mid to late 70s were the lowest of low points in the American car industry. And the late 70s Mustangs were about as bad as cars could get. Shocking performers, badly built, styled by the short sighted and an embarrasment to the brand name.
Stay well away from that one. In fact, I can't imagine many other cars that would rank lower on the 'worth saving' list.

I think a V8 one has potential. Especially as I'm imagining they're cheap and I'm also assuming they're powered by a SBF V8, making them easy to tune??!?!

No comment on Jack’s response!.......
However, neatly relating Japanese cars to the Mustang II, not sure if any of the Sudbury people recall Jim Howlett, who had the Datsun/Nissan dealership? He had a black 2dr one of these. Is it still about town?

Give me a RA28 Celica every time over that... at least the Celica looks like a proper 'stang ;D i'd be inclined to agree with you on that one. Especially if the Mustang was one of nasty vinyl roofed, side piped notchback affairs rolling on a set of 4.5x13 slotmags. However the T topped Fastback looks rather tasty in my own misguided opinion and definatley has 'potential'.

I have a feeling that if that mustang was wearing a 'trendy' set of japanese badges the course of this thread would be entirely different. Maybe? Yeah I'd love it and tell everyone to go and buy it cos its sooooo coool...... ...................

Yeah I'd love it and tell everyone to go and buy it cos its sooooo coool...... ................... Hmmmmm.... maybe i haven't got my point across as clearly as i would have liked. I just find it a bit strange that on a forum where Montego's, perodua nippa's and all manner of possibly underrated cars are usually well loved, whereas this car should be torched/crushed etc as it isn't a good as Steve Mcqueen's '68 fastback from bullit. No offence intended. I'm off to find pic's of cool Mustang 2s.

Personally I kinda likes it,.. the shape definatly has potential, know nothing about the construction, engine or anything else... All that stuff can be 'fixed' though ...

Seriously endagered species! One of those cars I wouldn't want to see scrapped, but wouldn't want to own either... 302 powered notchback might be temptimg though! However, neatly relating Japanese cars to the Mustang II, not sure if any of the Sudbury people recall Jim Howlett, who had the Datsun/Nissan dealership? He had a black 2dr one of these. Is it still about town? I remember the car but haven't seen it in ages.... It disappeared, I think when Jim's Morris Minor fetish got the better of him. Nothing interesting there at all now since Dovercourt Ford took over and moved it all to Barrett Lee's old place.

I spotted this dumped in an old car yard at the weekend What is it and is it worth saving??? I was interested until i found out that it's the curse word child of a mustang. it's kinda cool, but next to a proper mustang it looks like a pile of garbage (but then again, so do most things)

Pog will be pleased to know that in the US version of 'curse word cars' the Mustang 2 is number one.
I must get the book next time, it has all those so called 'world' cars where the US and European models were meant to be built to the same design, yet had absolutely no interchangeable panelwork at all.. Ford Escort, Chevrolet/Vauxhall Chevette, Plymouth/Talbot Horizon, Chevrolet /Vauxhall Cavalier etc
and it had lots of Renaults too, from the ill fated AMC phase in the 1980s.

The more I look at it the more I see potential. Quick search on ebay doesn't throw up much though. Wonder what insurance on one is like LOL

Glad to see a few others defending this, for a second it looked like we were all suddenly bothered about how good or well rated a car was when new.
I`m gonna go over and have a look about and we`ll just have to see how that goes, I`ve always liked these and if one`s going begging I`ll either snap it up or report back!

Specsavers for me then.
The wheelbase is too short for the body. I find the fact that the front overhang is much longer than the distance from the back of the arch to the start of the door particularly offensive.
'white with black rimZ' is the best of the bunch there, but still can't escape being inherently unbalanced-looking.
