I'm losing my storage so I need to downsize my collection of Cars, boats etc. This is a 1967 Hillman Minx Automatic. It is not running - it is a project car. You could get it running with a couple of hours work and I will try to do that over the next few weeks. It was originally equipped with a 1725cc Iron Head engine and a 3spd Borg Warner Automatic. Being the first year of the Arrow Body Style, the original engine came with an Alloy Sump such as what is commonly found on the Holbay Hunters and Rapiers. I still have the original engine but removed it some years agon to due to a noisy bearing. You can see a picture of the sump in the last photo. The car currently has a 30,000 mile twin carb alloy head engine out of a Humber Sceptre installed. Basically it needs ancillaries hooked up to make it run - alternator, distributor, and cooling system.
The car has had a good deal of work done to it. It has had new outriggers and a new front headlight panel installed following an accident some years ago. The front floors have been patched, but to a good standard. One sill has been replaced. All four doors are solid, but have filled in them in the middle of each door at the swage line however new door skins are included (see below). The trunk floor is solid and has never been welded as are the inner wings in the engine bay. The only bit that needs welding/replacing right now is the heater plenum that has a bit of grot at the bottom (inside the engine compartment - cosmetic really) The wings are an ill fitting fibreglass ones. The front suspension and engine cross member have been powdercoated and fitted with new balljoints and polyurethane bushes. A heavy duty Antiroll bar out of a later Rapier has been fitted.
The car comes with the following spare parts.
2 x Borg Warner 4speed automatic transmissions as found in later Hunters and Sceptres.
1 x Bellhousing should you want to change the car to a manual gearbox
1 x Alloy rocker cover
4 x NOS door skins.
2 x Rebuilt struts
1 x Original cast-iron head engine.
Other spare parts such as seats, interior trim panels, and various suspension and tune up bits.
My plans for the car were to have the body tidied up and repainted in the original Shore Beige, fit custom springs to lower it and improve the handling, banded rostyles, and either one of the 4speed autos, or convert it to a manual. The car is a very good basis for a project and would be relatively easy to get back on the road. I'm really sorry to see it go, but I just got it moved into new storage and have now lost this storage and I can't see myself getting around to working on it for a couple of years.
I'm looking for £500 which I think is fair given the amount of work that has been done and the good bits that are on the car and come with it.
