some of the VW guys have managed to run the VR6 in RWD form, the R32 is super compact considering what's in it. I've asked for R32 dims on the cgti facebook group

Interesting, could be on the horizon a v6 or 8 depending on cash flow. If someone wants to give me 7k I'll drop the maserati engine in but I think sadly that's turning into a pipe dream, I just ain't got that sort of dollar floating about. I have seen sub 500 quid v6 and 8s about and if I do an engine swap it will be in that price range, it's a real shame cos could you just imagine how insane the noise would be with a full blown italian v8 roaring out the back. We need to ask a certain rich ginger soon to be on telly petrolhead if an engine donation might be possible!.. wink wink nod nod...
We'll see, never say never an all that. On a brighter note I've just polished and buffed to a nice glossy shine all ready for road testing this weekend, I shall report back with my findings.

Would the S type jag V6 be an option? Have seen full V6 manuals going for under £500

Um dunno, I do have an alternative in mind but they are proving to be difficult to find. We'll see, no hard and fast rules here and this won't happen this year with the shows about to kick off, but I do have some idea of what could be an option :-)

www.waynet.com.cn/r36.pdf r32/36 details I guess a nissan 350z drivetrain would be too pricey. I think they have a 60 degree v6, whereas the jag stuff is 90deg as far as i know. audi did a nice 30v v6 that would make nice noises, they'd be cheap now, and all set for an inline application

Morning gentlemen, finally got my air management in place and had a light road test this morning while the roads where nice and clear. Very happy to report no issues, very tentatively I started out but immediately I could tell things were running smoothly so what does a gentleman do in this situation, well one puts ones foot down of course! So after a good 20 minutes of blasting about I brought her back into the pits and gave it the once over visually and everything was still in place, must be a good thing. Here's a vid a a photo taken this very morning. Allbthe best Charlie ;-)

How do chaps, been a while since I posted but not had anything of note to report really, all been hunky dory and I've just been enjoying the car driving and maintaining. I did get over to the Fast Car Festival today and showed the panther in all its retro glory with period accessories, 70s memorabilia, magazines, 8mm camera and a period folding bike. I do hope to get to the gathering, weather permitting, so look forward to seeing you there. All the best, Charlie ;-)

Holy moly, to bad we have these strange MOT rules were you can not do anything with your car - I hate TÜV! Wonderful car! Can you please tell me what kind of rack that is you have fitted on your Elite? I need that for my next surfing trip on mine! Fantastic rims by the way! Some more inspiration:

The roof rack I got off ebay for a fiver and modified it to fit, the accessories I've been collecting over the last few months, all good fun and a challenge to source certain items.

Nice to see a fresh update on this one, even if it's just an "all's fine, here's a pretty picture" snapshot of ownership. After all the hard work you've invested, you deserve some time to enjoy this car.

Glad to hear all is well. Just for the record, the S-type Jag V6 is a 60degree engine and I just happen to have one sat on my engine stand if you want some dimensions.

VIP Well you are right, you can modify cars with airride, but I could not even ride infront of my house without having to pay 135€ each time. Let me explain: You can never meet emissions for inner city traffic with a '79 car -if your car is period correct you get historic car numberplates, so there is no restrictions. Of course you can put your car on normal numberplates with TÜV certified airride. That would basicly mean I could use my car in the countryside and put it on a trailer every time I go home - restomodding older cars alike most of which is done on this website is basically impossible in Germany if you want to drive your car legally, especially with the emission badge we need in citys. You will never find fotos of cars with airride and an "H" at the end of the registration for "historic". Well, keep on driving your lawnmower sofas! I love british car culture! charlie: Not a big surprise, there never is an easy solution to anything what has got to do with this little ****. I love this thing!

Absolutely love this build. I don't pay enough attention to projects but this one I've been following from the start.
All that attention to detail has made one bad ass car.
What sort of reaction are you getting from people out in the real world with this?
