My recent shipment of J-mags has left me in a definite VIP Wagon mood, I know that some of you might consider the whole scene as too modern - but can cars that look this good really be uncool?: Perhaps some of the interiors are a little too 'bling'?: Maybe, but I can't help getting drawn in! Visit www.garson.co.jp (JDM) and www.dad-co.jp (Mercedes) for more classy blingtastic rides! Looking through the mag, not as many of the cars featured are 'bagged as you might think . Hard slam FTW! ;D Am I on my own here, or can others see the appeal of these?

Is it just me or do all those pictures look computer generated or at least altered?

I've been seeing the pics on Yahoo and assuming that they're Photoshopped, but they're real...and I've got the magazine here to prove it. As I said above, don't assume there's hydraulics or airbags involved either.

Check the neg! Moving away fom the people carrier theme now, but how about these: ^ Obviously there'd need to be some sticker/spoiler removal - how much fun does that look? ^

I'm totally with you on this one and I've got chance of a cheap Previa on a K plate which has been going through my mind over and over. I don't think I'd go the way of a big kit but just clean and low with wide dished rims and loads of neggie camber if poss. Cheapish, but would look fantastic if done right.

Some of those Previas actually look very good which is a monumental achievement if you think about how utterly horrible the standard version of the current shape Previa looks. Whats the White Daihatsu with the people at a table behind it? A cuore? I like it very much.

If the good lady suddenly sprouted a load more kids and I needed a people-carrier, it'd have to be debadged, shiny black, tinted and low. with 19's on at least I do really like the look, even the wheels. Deep-dish 15" Rewinds would just look daft on them, the whole point is bling and more bling. Those jewel-encrusted door pins are class

Those jewel-encrusted door pins are class Then you'll love these too: Even the packaging is bling!: I can imagine a shop in Bluewater selling Mercedes/BMW/Cayenne bling would be quite profitable. ;D

Mk1 Previas are great, but all these are just as curse word as those blinged-up ocean tanker 4x4s from the US.

I'm loving V.I.P. was seriously considering investing in an early 90's Lexus before the Saph came along just so I could go down this route.

Those jewel-encrusted door pins are class Then you'll love these too: Diamonds. On top of an explosive charge. Pointing at my face. I find that pretty scary! It's pretty damn impressive that there's the market for such stuff as glitzy electric seat controls.... why can't I have enough spare cash to put me in the target market for these?

I'm in Singapore at the moment. Every car is very clean, waxed regularly and customised via lowering and adding detail. I can completely see the appeal of J modern. Honda Jazzs in so may shades of cool, Subarus, Very low J saloons like the Accords and CROWNs, as well as loads of cool people carriers.
It looks cool in Asia, but it doesn't translate to the UK. The light is all wrong, it's a pain to keep your car clean (no Filipinos to do it for you) and the place is dirty and grotty.
Yes, VIP is cool but there is so much Asian car culture that works so well.

PS. I know you want pictures but I haven't had time.

And I feel I've let you down. All week I have been watching shiny cars rolling round on great alloys with HKS stickers, carbon bits, and colour coding thinking I really should do a "cars of singapore" thread, get some pics and put it on Retro Rides. And I have been working all week. Apart from today when I have been drinking all day by the beach. So sorry.
Even saw a replica of the Initial D AE86 yesterday which looked perfect. As all cars go no faster than 30mph here it's pretty easy to shoot them. But it also begs the question why there are so many turbo Evos and Imprezas.
Back to East Dulwich tomorrow.
