After having this for 4 months as a stop gap, my other car(s) are now fixed and roadworthy, so I'm selling this on.
Its a 1999 318i SE model, done 125K miles, but this will increase by 300 a week. SE spec includes climate control, air conditioning (isn't very cold though), 6 CD changer in boot, heated wingmirrors, front electric windows, front fog lights. Its in a metallic blue colour.
Work I've done includes...
Rebuilt rear brake calipers, rocker cover gasket, rear block water connector (that one at the back that is a right bleeder to get to), Airbag light reset, front spring, front control arm and bushes (Offside), new handbrake shoes...and plenty of small jobs dotted around.
It had no service history when I bought it, so first thing was a fluid refresh all round (except diff and gear oil, but I have these here).
Mechanically, its good. Not amazing, but it is 15 years old...
It has a tapping noise intermittently when cold (but I have bought 8 new tappets, which I'll include with the car for the new owner to fit);
The revs dip sometimes when slowing to a stop - down to around 600rpm. Never stalled. SORTED WITH NEW MAF.
Gearstick is a little sloppy (have bought many new linkage parts to replace - again, will come with car).
MOT has 3 advisories;
2 for rear brake pipes being slightly corroded.
1 for an oil leak, somewhere in the front of the engine. Leaves a £2 coin size drop overnight. Looks like its coming from the drivers side of the engine somewhere. SORTED< WAS THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. REPLACEMENT O-RINGS FITTED.
I have brake and emissions printout if anyone wants to see them.
Bodywork is alright, nothing special. Some panels have something wrong with them, nothing major but can range from lacquer peel on bumpers to stonechip on roof. Worst of the bodywork is 2 small patches of rust on one wheelarch (pictured). It does shine well though and when washed it does look very presentable.
(It has just been washed on the photos, so marks can also be from the wash!)
It did me a 400 mile journey last weekend without hitch, and it's my daily driver to get me to/from work every day (60 mile round trip). I do get around 46mpg from it, but my route to work is 50mph+. Around town, expect 40mpg.
MOT passed today, is valid until April 21, 2015. Tax was fresh yesterday for 6 months.
All tools are present in boot; there is also a space saver spare wheel and jack.
