I put this car up for sale around 4 months ago and got convinced to keep it and enjoy it. Unfortunately, asides from moving it to my new place, I've not really driven it (not really a commuter car) and I'm wasting money on tax, MOT and insurance.
Reality sucks, but I'm close to buying a house and owning a toy this is just not financially smart for me.
So here it is:
Base car:
F reg 320i saloon in delphin grey. Rear popouts, electric windows. Generally good condition, recent rust repair to the front 'jacking' points. no scuttle rust, rear battery tray in good condition. battery in boot conversion. Some patches of surface rust on the passenger side sill and underneath the bootlid, but it has been treated. Sunroof cut out and welded over with sheet metal. Looks to be a very good job and there's no heat distortion. Roof was painted after the sunroof job and isn't as glossy and the colour does not match.
Engine:
Rebuilt M20b25, fast BMW pistons. I believe the head has been welded for strength but in all honesty the previous owner was the one who built this, so I don't know a lot about the internals. All I know is it's covered less than 5k since the rebuild. Cast exhaust manifold with Garrett T3/4 hybrid turbo. Front mount intercooler. Ebay catch can.
Engine management:
Megasquirt 2 v3 board, wasted spark with GM v6 coilpack. high pressure MAP sensor. It has been fully mapped and tweaked on the road for driveability. Boost control fitted, but not wired or tuned. Currently running wastegate only, but can be looped to boost reference if you want more go.
Suspension:
Bilstein shocks, H&R springs. Full rear beam rebuilt with 325i rear discs, poly wishbone bushes. Front suspension arms rebuilt with new ball joints, M3 offset lollipop bushes. New drop links all round, new steering tie rods, E46 rear top mounts. E36 steering rack.
Driveline:
Full rear end overhaul. Z3m limited slip diff, polybushed. E36 propshaft and gearbox with modified linkage.
Brakes:
Willwood 4 pot front brakes, 325i rear disc brakes. new brake lines all around, ABS fitted and relocated. Goodridge braided brake hoses, recent master cylinder overhaul and new fluid. Rota slipstream 16" wheels with nearly new tyres.
Interior:
Stripped out, cobra monaco seats, OMP steering wheel, 4 point harnesses. Refitted the center console and fitted VDO oil temp and pressure gauges, and a special 'econoboost' gauge bought from the states that is a boost gauge fitted to the stock economy gauge, so OEM looks! New good body loom fitted after painstaking refitting and rewrapping. There are no cut wires or dodgy alarms here, everything was gone over with a fine tooth comb and set back to OEM. Megasquirt plugs in to the stock Motronic connector.
It passed MOT in August 2013 and has tax until November 2014
I have sunk so much money and time into this car it is unbelievable. I know I will never get this back, and I would be foolish to expect this. But with all of the rare parts fitted and the legwork done, I would like £4500 or I may consider a part exchange for an M50/52 powered E30
I am in Grays, Essex.
If you want to arrange a viewing give me a text or call on 07707 365615.
If you want to drive it, I need proof of insurance.
