As the title suggests i know they aren't quite retro yet but my GF doesn't have much luck with her cars. She had a nice (if yo can call it thet!) metalic green saxo vtr which she liked for the speed factor, however it developed a dodgy fault in which it would just cut out at any speed. Garage's wanted too much to fix it so it was sold. She then bought a 55reg Clio 1.4 16v which got side swiped after two weeks on a roundabout, old girl! Then after the repair it also developed a miss fire, which was a dodgy coil pack. She now feels it's too slow and would like another change and she has taken a liking to the Mk3 Golf convertible. I said a tidy Mk2 would be nicer but she doesn't like cars which are too old So therefore can you show me pictures of nice standard AND modified Mk2's and Mk3's to try and sway her to retro thinking. Thanks in advance.

I had a d reg white Mk2 gti8v which i paid £90 for.
Probably only coz it's summer but she definately wants a 'vert.
However when she drove it the steering was too heavy, did any Mk2's have power steering?

Shame VW didn't do a Mk2 ragtop, were any converted by the aftermarket? there were one or two done (karmann?) but without the roof the mk2 shell needed so much reinforcement that the owners would have needed a hgv licence to drive one.
