Hi all,
Bought this very rare special addition Escort over the weekend as I wanted a Mk5 pre-facelift for a while and found this on Ebay 90 miles away, it
drove home without a hitch at motorway speeds and seemed a nice car. On further inspection (in daylight) its not as clean as I would have liked so I'm
going to sell and continue my search.
In all honesty its a typical Ford special, an 'L' spec 1.4 car with special added stickers but it looks quite good with the old-school style graphics on the sides.
The pic's make it look good but to be honest its a ten feet car, the body has lots of paint damage from bird lime, many dents, the front lower sections of
the front wings have rotted away and its had a minor front end bash which has loosened the bumper and bent the rad support up under the car.
To top it off its been broken into (usual door bend technique) so the drivers door has damage as well.
Good news is that the main body is fairly rust free, rear arches have some but the all important battery tray is good and all the floor seems fine.
The mechanicals are spot-on, engine is smoke free, gearbox good and it drives well. It has some history and has a fairly new exhaust. Only thing to mention
is that the rad fan has seized so would probably overheat in traffic. Comes with 14" RS 4-spokes with missing centre caps, all tyres very good.
Interior is good, no major damage, rear shelf is ok too.
To be fair, there's no reason why it wouldn't pass another MOT without reason.
Has all the bit's needed for a sneaky Zetec conversion factory fitted!
Would be ideal for someone with access to panels to repair or are less fussy about these things then me! As I believe its worth saving.
When was the last time you saw one?
