Description: For me the XJR V8 combines the best classic qualities of a Jaguar with modern performance and reliability. I think there's no other saloon available for the price to match the qualities of this model. The looks are elegant and still cut it, the power (370bhp) and particularly the torque (think BMW M5 V10 here!) is even today blistering (0-60 in 5.2 sec), and the steering and handling are sublime. Parts prices are affordable (e.g f discs and pads £90 delivered!), and even the mpg is what any 4-litre car will do (22 everyday, up to 30 on a long run). I could go on all day about how good they are, but I'll get on with the ad...!
This car is a late-1999 phase 2 (with the rare asteroid alloys and later dashboard). It's in the best colour - Platinum Silver, with grey leather interior (quite unusual, most are sombre black or ivory) and lovely burr walnut. It has a fair bit of history and handbooks, leather wallet etc. The 104k miles are warranted, with the MOT history etc to back it up. It has a number of factory options (in addition to the high level of equipment you expect from a £52000 car) which include cruise control, heated electric memory seats, heated screen, headlamp washers, cup holders, Parrot hands-free kit (no idea how it works!). The bodywork is in very presentable condition, and looks attractive. There are a couple of bubbles on the lower front wings and on the NSR wheelarch, as is usual with the X308 model. The alloys are almost unmarked and look fairly recently refurbished. The car gets plenty of admiring comments wherever it goes!
The interior's in good order, with light patina in keeping with the age. Freshly hovered and cleaned, a nice place to be as driver or passenger. Mechanically the car starts and drives well, nice quiet drivetrain (note this model has the Mercedes AMG gearbox which unlike the XJ8 'box, is bombproof!). Only issue I can find is it needs a front ABS sensor (included with the car). Front brakes have been recently replaced. Tyres are ok though the rears will need replacing sometime this year. The car had an LPG conversion but it's all been long-since removed. It drives very well and offers a really rewarding driving experience - if you've never driven one you're in for such a treat! Seriously.
The car was subject to an insurance claim some years ago so is cat D, but as you see, has travelled many miles/MOTs since and I can't find any damage to it. But the good news is that this makes the car very affordable - unlike the £3000+ ones out there with this mileage. And as you see from the photos, the car will also double as a chauffeur wedding car...sports saloon, family car, luxury limo, the XJR can do it all!
Any questions, other photo's needed etc please just ask. Possibly the cheapest V8 XJR for sale at the moment!
