1989 Jetta Mk2 1.6 TX
I bought this from a guy in Plymouth last September as a project, but with too much on the go, it may as well go to someone else.
Good points
Runs well, surprisingly good Pierburg carb on it
Coilovers of unknown quantity, they ride well enough
84,000 miles (accordingly to the clocks)
Interior, although needing a good clean, is free from wear and tears
Watertight, I've just just washed this extensively and no water got inside
Bad points
Its a bit rough externally, namely the scrape on the O/S rear quarter and the knock on the N/S front wing/bumper
Noisy N/S front wheel bearing
Two bald tyres
Clutch bites high, but doesn't slip
Rusty battery tray
Rear O/S door handle is loose. It works if you hold it in place whilst operating it, but could use replacement
The interior STINKS of weed. (This might be a good point, depending on who you are). I've currently got it sat inside with all the windows and boot open to air it out. It seem strongest in the boot, I've pulled all the carpet and trim panels out and cant find a hidden stash anywhere, so I'm hoping the smell will go away!
Stuff it will definitely need for an MOT
Aforementioned tyres
Possibly the wheel bearing, although there's no visible play, you might get away with tightening it up
Wiper blades
N/S headlamp is not completely secure due to the bump to front corner
I've had a poke around underneath, and there's no apparent rusty holes or split CV boots/gaiters, the brakes work well enough, no play in the steering, and the lights all worked the last time I used it.
I drove it in this condition from Plymouth to East Sussex and it caused no problems, never got hot and the bearing didn't get any noisier.
It would make a fair base for a project, or simply MOT it and enjoy it ratty.
The coilovers are unknown budget eBay specials, no idea how old they are, they ride well enough.
I've also got a set of big bumpers (aftermarket front, genuine rear) and a pair of 16v side skirts that will go with the car for free.
I've no history with it, just the V5C in my name.
Price is £375.
The car is located near Uckfield in East Sussex, at a barn I rent with some mates. Collection obviously on a trailer or truck, unless you bring some legal tyres and drive it to a pre-booked MOT. []

I've included a cold start vid so you can hear the engine, see a working Pierburg, and note there is no smoke from the exhaust.
