1971 Volkswagen Type 3 Fastback 1600TE
Engine : Original 79,000miles on the original engine with FI. Pulls fantastically well - can easily cruise at 70mph and really goes if it’s on lead replacement or premium unleaded. Does not spot or use oil. Gearbox is good, gear linkage could probably do with replacing but it’s never bothered me. Temp sensor and dizzy recently replaced along with the major FI pipework. Temp sensor is obsolete so a US Spec bus version had to be used. This only affects warm up and can cause over fuelling (smoking) for the first few mins.
Suspension : Lowered 11inches.
Front : 4inch narrowed Type 1 (Slamwerks) beam conversion, bug pack shocks, drop spindles, new ball joints etc and 0.5inch spacers. Fuel filler relocated to under bonnet for more clearance.
Rear : Notched chassis, custom rear shocks and mini bump stops. Overall rides very well considering it’s so low but is extremely close to the floor so needs to be driven with intelligence!
External : A few minor paint issues. Far from show winning, but overall a good looking, presentable car. Runs on nearly new continental tyres, black powder coated steels with original hub caps and NOS mesh style beauty rings.
Internal : Original interior in very good condition. Only issues are damaged carpet and small rip in headliner. Very nice place to be and so big and airy!
RUST! : Type 3’s are prone to some serious rust issue. All of which have been repaired over the years. 95% have been done to a good restoration standards.
Awards : Volksworld feature car and selected as top 10 features for 2013. Fuelled Society Winner 2013. SkegVegas Best Low Job 2013.

Overall it’s a fantastic car that needs to be taken out and enjoyed and still has room for someone to put their stamp on it.

or in Leeds afterwards.
I'm only selling because I need a new challenge. Base on offers received before I was ready to let it go, the price is £6250 OVNO
