I've had a hankering for one of these. For a few years now, not sure why really I don't have kids or any real need for a family car, but who am I to argue with the voices in my head ? The plan is to turn it into something I can Go camping in , use as a dayvan and just go sit at the beach or the lakes an do chuff all:). This is when I first got Lucifa as it is now known it looked ok from a distance, but close up there were a good few knocks n dents that itd picked up. some dice soul had keyed most of the way down the passenger side. the body kit had cracks and splits and a hole knocked right through on the front bumper. theres no way i was gonna be able to patch it up and get a decent finish to match the rest of the paint, so didnt feel to bad about what happened next.

the bus is a 2.4 turbo diesel, 4wd auto... its really nice to drive, lazy , comfy but is stooopidly thirsty. luckily it seems happy running on 50\50 derv and veg , which is 90p a litre at mo, so that kinda helps main thing i wanted to sort was the ride height, has 18s fitted but the arch gap is a bit much. first bit of luck was s a set of lowering springs popping up on ebay got these ready for when the time comes... not long after a set of coilovers came up for a later model. snapped these up too in the hope theyd fit. any hoo... i cracked on patching up the body kit and getting ready to paint the van. decided on nato green... getting as bit common now, but hadnt seen a lucida done in it and i lurves nato green so... had to be done, pics in next post, my pc has aids so ill try get em up using my phone!

Another thing to sort is wheels... The ones on there are ok... But need tyres A set o ford explorer rims came up on eBay.... Messages from. Dan...smelly feret and. Kev. : Kfw. Pointed me in their direction ( thanks ladies) . They ate steel. 7x16 but quite a low offset, plan is with some higher profile tyres they will fill the arches ok .. Can only drop the van a little more as the bodykit will be in the floor before the arch gap dissapears ! Painted the wheels black and tried o e on Time will tell what they look like ... If not so good I'll sort tyres for the 18's Wheels ate now with Kfw for tyres ... Ta pet

It's amazing what a single colour re-spray does for a car. That's looking neat.

I've got a bit of a thing for rivets!! I got some adhesive protective feet things, sort that go under furniture to protect floors. Painted them black and put them rou d the edge of the windows , fake armoured glass style When looking for the right car , I had three this I was insisting on... Had to be the model with this front / lights... Had to have the jtop raised roof. And also had to have the two captains chairs in the middle. After having the car a few days, wished I'd got the bench seat in the middle... Just not enough room . I've now taken out the middle seats, gonna either just leave it as is and use an airbed, or look for a bench seat , with this they will all fold flat to make a double bed . I kinda like it as it is ... Next step is sort out a box/ table and few other bits Funky wooden steering wheel was already in " wisdom junction renovation". ERM ok then!

The stereo in the van was awful.. Was a Sony but on its last legs. I got a cheapo double din DVD/iPod/Bluetooth/reverse camera hobby from eBay. Bargain price of £87 ! Followed two days later by a bill for £38 import fisting tax Works well tho. But even tho someone has replaced all the speakers. The sound is pants , think its down to how the speakers are fitted , they'd are just inside the trims , but not actually sealed if that makes sense ... Bit like if you connect a speaker up and have it sat on top of the parcel shelf.. It'll sound poo, no bass, but cut a hole in the shelf and sink it in..sounds completely different . Looks like this is how they come as standard ? Sound is painful . This is something I originally planned to do for my Sportrak, but sold it first. I have some 8" sub's , going to fit them into jerry cans. , dynamat inside the can, might even add crossovers and tweeters. These will sit either side in the boot, want to have them on plugs so I can just remove them when I want more space Might sound ok.... Can't sound any worse !

Oh, my fapping jebus!
I've a hankering for another J van as the longing for my departed L300 Delica grows stronger, I'm currently doing the ebay thing with lots of obscure searches (l300, hiace, townace, noah, granvia, elgrand, stepwagon etc) and I've pretty much ruled out any 'lucindas' as they were too far into the 'meh'
But how wrong was I, the not-so-drab olive lends it all kinds of win!
Bookmarked.
edit, there wasn't enough room in my deli so I removed the centre row of seat as well, makes much more usable space - sold the two captains chairs I removed for over £500 - which was nice.
Do these vans suffer from any particular issues - I've a nagging doubt about heads??? maybe that's just the petrols?

I have been wanting one of these. Specifically a manual diesel 4x4 one. I love the versatility. Not overly keen on the nato green but its going to look great when the rear is dropped too. Top work!

My old man had one of these a 2wd diesel and the head cracked common fault apparently. Something to do with the turbo getting too hot and effecting the head I think might be wrong. Plenty of bits tho they always seem to end up getting binned I dunno why cracking bit of kit and loving yours mate I wish I grabbed it off my old man now when he scrapped his. Checkout the drifting videos of these on YouTube lol awesome!

Managed to have another go at lowering the back... Tried last week, the shock was a bit crusty and the end sheared off when I undid it ! EBay sorted out a pair of shocks, 38 for the two delivered. .. Can't complain Anyhoo... I've fitted the new shocks and the springs , but not fitted the adjustable platform part... There can be only one setting . Might be a bit too low, well see New wheels n tyres will be going on soon... Then see exactly where it sits .. Think the new ones are gonna bee about half an inch taller, but poke out slightly further. Watch this space

Really like these. Umming and ahhing over getting one in a few months to take a bunch of people to Le Mans, if my current plans fall through. Feel like I wouldn't want to sell it if I got one though...

The fuel can 'ice' is inspired. Olive drab only works in certain applications, and your is certainly one of them. Watching with interest!
