If this is true it's bad news. The trade off will be the eventual restricted use of vehicles over 40 years old. This concession has just brought that scenario a big step closer.

Yup, a real concern - but not something we can fight until we know more. :/ Oh, and we already know that the FBVHC isn't on our side in this.

I'll be interested to see if this leads to anything more .. like restricting car movement based on age like they do elsewhere and are proposing in London. Another 5 years I'll find out with mine ... should probably buy a bunch of 1975 cars now...

I can't see that they have any viable reason to limit use. There's not enough 40+ year old cars on the road to be affecting the environment in any significant way and I honestly can't see any other angles they could even think about taking without looking foolish. With all of the issues that are going on in this country and elsewhere I really can't see how it would be worth anyone's time and effort to implement it when there's nothing to gain.

I take it the glass is always half empty then guys? My Dad, being a retired engineer, will say the glass is clearly twice as big as it needs to be!

Horah! This is good news. Regarding the restriction of usage of historic vehicles. The accusation that they are associated with environmentally damaging pollution pales into insignificance whilst this country still fails to register the need for taxation in relation to the visual pollution that is the Nissan Juke.
