hello everyone, I'm new. I have had a recuuring dream lately that involved a triumph dolomite and a nissan 200 turbo engine? any ideas? I might have some dollys coming from 'the bay' in the next 2 weeks. and a mate has a 200 sat on his driveway needing a bad home. I would need to add some pretty big brakes and sort the suspension out. I'm not afraid to hit a few things with my vast array of hammers. regards dave
ps I have 2 E28 bimmers both mint(one is for sale a 520i), one mk2 astra gte mint, 2 civic del sols one has a wonky front end, a mk1 lotus esprit - always broken and 3 triumph spitfires - all very rusty or in bits, I have had lots of bimmers, golf gti's - even had a tyre shredding rover 600 turbo that I blow up a couple of years ago!!!

Eye up ;D Like all engine conversions, it's possible but some careful fitment will be required - the turbo or manifold may want to inhabit the same space as the suspension turret, depending on where you place the engine (of course, as faaar back as possible is the best option). You'll need at a minimum - engine mounts, gearbox mounts, tunnel may require modifying, custom or larger radiator, intercooler and oil cooler if required, high pressure fuel lines front to rear, injection pump fitting to the tank, propshaft adapting and of course, any appropriate wiring. There'll be some little, but taxing, things like setting up clutch hydraulics but overcomeable with a bit of effort After that, just grab a set of AVO dampers & springs from Jigsaw, Holden brake conversion from Sprintparts in Australia (so, it'll set you back the thick end of 600 quid but hell, it's worth every penny), new superflex bushes for the rack, Rally Design intermediate linkage and....well, that's the handling sorted! Would be a very capable car with that setup. Of course, after that you get into things like adding a panhard rod to the rear axle and so on but even that's not too tricky. You'll need a Sprint back axle, these will take 300ft/lb in good health, more if you've got poor traction. The shell and subframe will take about 400BHP before any serious problems start emerging, your best bet being to reinforce the corners with additional plating, brace the rear turrets and fit a front suspension brace, availiable from Brian Kitley. Seam welding the shell isn't really recommended but is availiable as a last resort. Or go the caged route ;D Sprintparts also sell the full wide arch kit, deep chin spoiler and tail spoiler. I saw your 520i on eBay (can't see why I stumled over it ), would you believe it, think it's the same colour as my Dolomite ;D (mine's Zinnobar as well, as far as I can tell) Any queries feel free to ask, plenty of peeps on here packed full of useful info ;D

I have just this minute got my dollies off the 'bay' I am now the owner of 2 dolly 1850hl's one in brooklands green and one in inca yellow. green one is being used for project, yellow one not sure yet? - maybe there is room in my live for two dolly turbos? - I'm sure the missus wont see it that way - but then shes always in a mood with me - lol. I'm thinking chequer plate dash with white splitfire guages and rat look paint (I have a tree at work i can park it under), also wide arch kit, any suggestions on alloys to suit? have been speaking to the aussies about the brakes, seem reasonable guys. looking to get it done before the summer as i have been driving far to sensibly for too long!!!
