The Avenger was the first car with a moulded plastic front grille...
Harris Mann also redesigned the Morris Marina into the Morris Ital - Ital Design productionised the plans as ARG were too busy getting the Maestro/Montego ready and as a 'Thank You' named the 'new' car after them...
The Morris Marina TC was the first car ever to have red pinstripes around the grille to denote a 'sporty' design...
Rover built two or three 4x4 Rover 75 estates using LandRover Freelander running gear; one at least survives, the other(s) were still in Longbridge when the Chinese started crushing stuff and so ended up in containers of scrap..

Triumph sent Michelletti a Herald in '66 to turn into a hatch back, he ofcourse did a sterling job and sent this back, even adding a kick up on the back window long before BMW added it for extra strength in the D pilar. Triumph in their strange windom looked at it and went ...nar, who know why no funds, didn't think their was a market. Who knows how well it could have sold at that time they were pinning the future on the Toledo and the Herald was left to die. Normal these still born prototypes get destroyed but this was saved but left to rot and was found half beried in garden, the hatch top hat was grated onto a good body and restored to this.

The first car in the world to have a bonded windscreen was the TVR Tasmin/Wedge series. Lancia Beta Coupes and Spider had those from 74 well before the TVR Wedges. Don't know if they were the first though. They switched to conventional screen seals from about 79. The ridge down the middle of a Morris Minor's bonnet is from when they decided the clay buck was too narrow and they cut it down the middle to widen it. The Peugeot 309 was originally designed as a Mk2 Talbot Sunbeam Lancia once accused other car makers of 'excessive quality' That will do for now!

Even though the trade mark of a "real" Porsche is it's rear engine layout. The original Porsche 356 was mid engined, but the production version had the layout changed to lower costs. I know this photo is a model, but it shows the layout well.

Hitler wanted a Nazi Europe to drive on the left, favouring right hand drive cars. We drive on the left for very practical reasons. Before the motor car, we kept our horses to the left in order to prevent clashing swords, which were commonly on the left hand side, for right-handed people to withdraw. This was naturally practiced on wider tracks and 'roads' when pulling carriages. This created. Kerb-side of the carriage, so the rpremier frequented there. No, Hitler did not.. By 1940, Only Hungary and Sweden were using right hand steering wheels. When the German started sending troops to Romania and the Yugoslavian invasion was due the german troops caused many accidents in Hungary. Therefore Hitler (Hungary was allied with them) asked the Hungarian governor to change the traffic rules. It happend in two steps; In the country, they chenged it in 06.07.1941; In the capital city (Budapest) 09.11.1941. Between the dates, all road were controlled by the Gendarmerie (Csendorség), and they directed the traffic back to the left in the edge of the city. Also trilanguar (German, Hungarian, Italian boards were erected that said: "Drive on the left!". The changeover in the capital city was pretty amazing; all the workers were on duty in the workshops.. Cut new doors on the right side of the bodywork of the buses and trams and closing down the old ones on the left. Also, pretty of roadworks were done during only one night, rebuilding roundabouts and junctions, removing platforms and traffic islands, building new ones, changing the traffic signs, etc.. Sweden drove on the left despite most of their (imported) cars being LHD. Ignoring a previous referendum (in the 50s), the government changed to driving on the right at 5am on Sunday September 3, 1967.
