It is illegal to sound your horn after 11pm and before 7am, it is also illegal to sound your horn on a Sunday, It WAS also Illegal to drive a HGV on a Sunday before they changed the Sunday trading laws, It is still is Illegal to drive a HGV on a Sunday in many countries in the EU, which is why there are so many EU lorries on the road at the weekend over here, they can earn money over here....... Oh for the Joys of driving at the weekend 25 years ago, Because the Eastern European companies pay their drivers by the mileage.

Toyota hasn't always been called Toyota. It was originally toyoda
In September 1936, the company ran a public competition to design a new logo. Of 27,000 entries, the winning entry was the three Japanese katakana letters for "Toyoda" in a circle. But Risaburō Toyoda, who had married into the family and was not born with that name, preferred "Toyota" because it took eight brush strokes (a lucky number) to write in Japanese, was visually simpler (leaving off the diacritic at the end) and with a voiceless consonant instead of a voiced one (voiced consonants are considered to have a "murky" or "muddy" sound compared to voiceless consonants, which are "clear").
Since "Toyoda" literally means "fertile rice paddies", changing the name also prevented the company from being associated with old-fashioned farming. The newly formed word was trademarked and the company was registered in August 1937 as the "Toyota Motor Company".

Pretty sure I've mentioned this before on here, but if you look at the swage line on the C pillar on a Mk2 golf, one side is well defined front to back, the other side almost fades to nothing...

on racing cars Nissan like to have the number 23 on their cars, because in japanese the number 2 is pronounced ni and the number 3 is pronounced san , so it sounds like Nissan.

MR2 when pronounced in French "em er deux" sounds quite a lot like "merde" - or, in English "sh*t".

But Mitsubishi´s Pajero doesn´t have a different name in Spain, does it? They are sold under a different name in Spain, can't remember what though. The Kia Picanto had to be renamed for sale in Portuguese-speaking markets, as 'Picanto' translates as 'singing penis' in Portuguese!

the mkI escort as we know it wasn't the first escort at all ! The Ford Escort was a mechanically identical squire estate car, but based on the Ford Anglia which had a lower trim level. This proved more popular and a total of 33,131 Escorts were produced between 1955 and 1961. Production of the Escort continued until 1961, two years longer than the Squire. Some years later, the Ford Escort name was also used for two other small cars, manufactured in Europe and North America. (photo should of been here) A less expensive variant of the Ford Squire was branded as the Ford Escort. heres a link incase the photo isn't in the above text en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_SquireFunny, ford used the name focus twice, too. The basic versions of the fiesta mk4 were called fiesta focus (at least here in germany). 1-2 years before the focus followed the escort. They've also used the Sapphire name twice .Originally it was on ltd edition Granada Mk2 Toyota hasn't always been called Toyota. Hitler wanted a Nazi Europe to drive on the left, favouring right hand drive cars.
We drive on the left for very practical reasons. Before the motor car, we kept our horses to the left in order to prevent clashing swords, which were commonly on the left hand side, for right-handed people to withdraw. This was naturally practiced on wider tracks and 'roads' when pulling carriages. This created. Kerb-side of the carriage, so the rpremier frequented there.

The VW Polo was a slow car compared to the Golf.
When the MK1 Golf GTI was on sale, the Polo got no more than 60bhp, and by the time the MK2 Golf GTi 16v was introduced, the Polo's most powerful engine had dropped to 55bhp. Next to competition like the Nova and Fiesta, this gave the Polo a pensioner image and it's big brother took all the glory.
But only in Britain. On the continent, things were rather different.
Alongside the MK1 Golf GTi they had a MK1 Polo GT, with 75bhp it's power to weight ratio was into three figures a ton. By 1987, when the Golf got sixteen valves, the Polo got a supercharger - it was thirty percent more powerful than the Fiesta XR2.
Not until the facelifted MK2 in 1990 die we get a fast Polo in Britain. Why? Because that's when we finally got a brake servo. Until then, Volkswagen didn't see fit to engineer the RHD cars with a brake servo, there wasn't the room inside for a relay linkage, or outside for a servo on the offside behind the engine. And VW felt that the quicker models should not be offered without one.
Their hand was forced when their all new Polo wasn't going to be ready early enough, when demand for a servo on lesser models was high. So they engineered a small servo into the MK2f and subsequently let us have our first GT and supercharged G40 with that car.

Pajero (or at least a Spanish word that sounds similar) means w@nker in Spanish, which is deemed very offensive, akin to us driving an Austin C**t
