This little Starlet has potential, in our house, it's known as the "Bullet" and for good reason, it's a quick little thing with a wonderful revvy engine and one of the best gearchanges I've ever used.
In my ownership, it's never failed to start or given a boring drive. I've fitted a new radiator and a back box, the rad because all the vanes fell out of the old rad, though it never overheated on the hottest day last year when it happened (and in a M25 Sunday jam too!)
The back box, because although I loved the sound of the split it had, it wouldn't pass the MOT!
The bodywork is rust free, top and bottom, a few minor parking scuffs on the plastic bumpers. Sailed through the MOT with advisories for 2 brake pipes slightly corroded and the front tyres close to the limit.
However, the skinny tyres are easy to spin and the car does encourage a "push on" driving style, so I know they'll need changing now.
Only really 3 faults, the first is a blown heater matrix, the heater pipes have been re-directed and the car doesn't over-heat, but you'll need a warm coat to drive in this weather
.
The headlight relay has gone west, the dip lights stay on all the time, even with the key removed! I can't be arsed to trek to a Toyota dealer to get the special relay needed, so just pull the battery lead off when parking.
And a big dvd player has been fitted where the radio used to live, unfortunately the fitter has chopped out the hole with a kitchen knife and it's not pretty, plus I can't figure out how to tune the radio.
Everything else works. And to help you get it home, I won't pull the insurance till after you're settled into your settee and congratulating yourself on the bargain of a Toyota you've just brought!
If it wasn't for the heater, I wouldn't be selling this car, but the girlfiend wants a warm car and I need my diesel back.
See here for ideas.
It's really too good to scrap, but it's the old story, no time or money and the clocks ticking on the tax disc refund.....
So £200 for a taxed, MOTed Retro...with lots of potential.
