The time is coming for my Mam to spend some money on her beloved Mini, some body surgery (new wings) and engine work etc etc... On a visit to the local Mini specialists last weekend (M&M's in Warrington, great place - the showroom upstairs is a great way to waste a bit of time) she fell in love with a blue Mini that was riding on 13" Superlites. I know it's a predictable choice etc, but they DO look good... But finding nice pics of Minis with them on isn't as easy as I thought! So anyone got any? Bonus points if they're fitted to a Cherry Pearl Mini 30 ;D here's her car: And here are the questions: 1) Who is a good supplier? 2) What arches? I don't really like the Rover Sportpack ones, I'm not sure if it's the wheels they fit on the late Coopers but the arches look too wide to me. 3) What tyres? They don't need to be supersoft or anything, it doesn't get driven hard and a long wear-life is more important. 4) Disadvantages? I guess the ride will be even harder, right? What about the effects on gearing? All input greatly appreciated ;D

Go for the yoko 175/50 tyres imo. I had these on my fiesta and used them for a good 9 months with very minimal wear! they are stickey too which is a bonus Gearing will go up (more speed, less revs), i cant remeber what diff a 30 would have but id guess if your not driving the car as a sporty kind of boy racer would (me ) then it might attulay be better! The main downside is the wheels will upset the handling a bit, it will restrict how much you could lower it (and attulay make it higher) which makes them look rather stupid imo but i don't see that relly effecting you Arches wise id go for group 5s or euros probably

Cool... It's got a 1275 lump in there (the 998 died years ago) and it really doesn't get thrown about enough to worry about the handling to be honest, I don't get to drive it that often ;D

My old Mini: The arches on there are the sportspack ones, but they were blended into the body, which looks a lot nicer IMO. I love Group 2 & 5 arches though. As for tyres, Yoko's all the way! Can't been them on a Mini. The only disadvantages with having 13's was parking, although, I was using a 10" steering wheel

i know what you mean about the standard sportspack wheels and arches, but i think the 7x13 superlights fill them better. This is what mine used to look like, although it did have spacers on the back. Parking is a good arm workout and despite losing a lot of the front wheel arch it still used to catch like mad - riding on the bumpstops didn't help much i guess

Yea, I've seen a VTEC converted one with 14's on.
It really didn't look right.

Get a second hand set - refurb them - do the centres the same colour as the body! (Kinda like this)

Oh and here are some pictures of mine when I first bought it, please excuse the state of it. (You wouldn't believe the wheels above are the same wheels!)

miglia arches do look good with 13s, not exactly something id do to a mini 30 tho, especially one for my mum. go with something subtle.
just go on the minispares-online.co.uk you'l see loads like that on there, its huddersifled spares site, andy (the owner) is mad about large wheels and wide arches. wheels are probably the only thing id buy off him, he does good packages deals and u can part ex in ur old ones.
spacers are a big no no on a mini, and 13s do wear out wheels bearings quicker but so what, they don't take much effort to change.
theres plenty of minis about with 14's there was a clubman with a type r vtec with em one a while ago, think it got shipped off to the US tho
