Hi everyone A bit off topic I know but I've got a bit of an issue at the moment with getting my 1967 Hillman Imp on the road. The car has not been on the road for about 30 years now and is still listed as PLG on the V5. The way I understand it is that you have to get an MOT and be insured on the car before you can send off your documents to be amended. Is this true? I don't want to spend £1750 for my insurance (I'm 17) for me to then not be allowed to drive it for a month while they change the tax. I'm thinking I'm better off taxing the car for 6 months and then sending off the documents, that way I can still drive it. Any one had the same problem? Cheers, James

Got a local DVLA office? Drop in, they changed it in about 20 minutes for my Land Rover and gave me a tax disc there and then (Y)

If you go to a MAIN Post Office they will change the class and issue a free historic tax disc while you wait!!!

Okay thanks guys, I will walk down to the post office tomorrow and see what they can do, I'm not insured on the car yet as my premium is so high I don't want to insure and lose a month's driving! Cheers, James

Nope they wouldn't do it, she could only change the taxation class to disabled which is pretty useless to me, I rang up the DVLA and they said they could have my new tax disc and MOT certificate back to me within 2 weeks, pain in the ass but oh well. Cheers, James
