Hello all, new to the site and looking for a bit of information already. I am looking at getting a mini shell acid dipped or media blasted and am looking for companies anywhere in Ireland if possible, UK companies may work as-well but preferably in Ireland...
Cheers Steeo

Why not do the paint stripping yourself? I work in the vehicle body industry in Australia. I am not a fan of acid dipping. Strips paint/ sealer from places that it cannot be replaced properly for a start, personally I think thats a good enough reason to start so I will leave it at that. Blasting is good, but it is very expensive, here anyway, and there is regularly panels damaged plus you have to make sure the person doing it is quality otherwise you can have all sorts of problems and much more work then you started with.
Personal opinion anyway. Everyone has their preferences and manual/ regular paint stripper way is the best for me.

I believe glass bead blasting and soda blasting is the best bet for not leaving any issues with the panels, that is of course, if the blaster knows what they are doing, both from what I understand are very messy. I also am not a fan of acid dipping.

Is there anything good for stripping paint off a car I have used numerous different paint strippers while doing alloys and they were a nightmare often applying 3 maybe 4 coats before the paint would lift.

If you know anyone in the industry ask them and use that. Here in Australia whatever we get released to the public is usually less then half the strength minimum then what I get through work. I usually use one from a company I think is called Spartan but once again its hard to say if its the same and this is a trade only thing here. Usually only takes one decent coat, if not a little extra might be required for certain sections.
When you use it there is certain things you need to do to make sure it's effective. Do you know how to mask the car up properly? Very messy otherwise. Do you score the paint? seen people do it a few times with out and its a big waste of time. Do you use enough? It requires a fair bit to be applied and left for a while, but also too much can be applied where its just messy. Do you use a sheet of plastic over the top of the stripper? Most companys and alot of people will say you have to do it, but the more air that gets to it the quicker and better it it strips the car.
If necessary I could find some old panels here etc. and show you exactly what to do with pics and instructions if you want.
