I'm heading to Las Vegas next week for ten days and was wondering if anyone had any tips for where to go from a motoring perspective? I'm hoping to have a good scout online at some point soon for other ideas. So far I have decided I like would to do the muscle car experience here. Get to take selection of new muscle cars out in to the desert for a an hour or two for a thrash about. My girlfriend has spotted this on groupon . A fairly cheap means to having a go in a Ferrari. A chap at work has suggested I visit the Counting Cars showroom. Seen it once on the television, worth a look? Article here. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

We went last year and we did this www.u-drift.com v good and not too expensive but i have heard it depends on the instructor you get. Mates went to Counts Customs and Ricks Restorations........ they met a few guys from the shows. The hold regular events at the Las Vegas Speedway www.lvms.com/media/news/ We went to the Mopar Midnight Mayhem which is like an organised street race, cost £5 to get in. Just on the off chance you want to do some shooting get yourself out to the Clark County Range right by (gun range run by the council) right by Nellis Airbase you watch a short video then they give you a licence(good souvenier) then hire you a rifle or a pistol or we did some skeet shooting. Its hell of a lot cheaper than the ones on the strip and if you are lucky one of the locals might let you go full auto with an AR15. If you want any more info on places to go and restaurants in Vegas just drop me a PM. Steve

As Hardcore said, the Car Collection at the Imperial Palace is a good start, and they have free admission tickets on their website. autocollections.com/Unfortuantely, you're going just a couple of weeks too early to catch the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly event which includes a MASSIVE Hot Rod and Custom Show at the Orleans

As your attorney, I advise you to rent a very fast car with no top. And you'll need the cocaine. Tape recorder for special music. Acapulco shirts! Seriously though, get a convertible and cruise throug the city. Mind, don't park it on the side way

Hire a car and go and drive to Red Rock Canyon near by (even better get out, go for a walk and see the Petraglyphs (even better get a longboard and go skating there, it is an amazingly mellow spot)) This also isn't too far away : www.flickr.com/photos/retroscenemag/sets/72157632943585472/ ... paid a few dollars for a look around, because it seemed the polite thing to do. Oh and go and see O at the Bellagio.

I went last year and loved it. Go and see the Shelby Museum just outside Vegas, it's free and has some cool stuff. A couple of times a week they do a free guided tour of the museum and workshops - the days / times are on their website. Well worth a visit. It's not all Mustangs and Cobra's ;-)

Currently driving a '68 Karmann Ghia as my daily. Don't ask about previous cars - there have been way too many and I stopped counting at 160!

What are your dates? The Mint 400 desert race is coming up pretty soon. Although the race itself takes place out of Vegas, there's a lot going on in town beforehand.
