Owned by my wife since August 1995, 4 previous owners in less than 4 years.
It’s all standard and unmolested except for having the by then tatty standard cloth seats changed to half leather in 2004 by Mark Thomas in Lancing. The carpets are original and although faded are unmarked.
The rear parcel shelf is untouched.
The standard stereo has been replaced by an Alpine CDE-9873RB, but the original Clarion still here and the wiring wasn’t ‘hacked’ out. The speakers were replaced by Kenwoods both front and rear in the original housings. Also present is an Alpine underseat subwoofer which worked in our previous car but can I get it to work in the Pug? Can I heck…
On the outside we treated her to a bodywork refresh in 2011. The arches and sills were showing signs of the usual affliction, so we had this cut out and treated. The bonnet had also (oddly) corroded from the underside so that was replaced, albeit not with a Peugeot part. So outside it’s immaculate.
It was my wifes daily driver until 2006 when we acquired an Alfa 147 which had power steering (a revelation for her). I then used it as my daily driver until 2009 when we acquired a company car. Since then it’s been our Sunday car but as you can see from the mileages it’s inadvertently become a (dehumidified) garage queen and kept under a Classic Additions cover. I keep the battery healthy by using an Optimate charger (not included in the sale). Although not regularly used I do run it up to temperature at least monthly – it’s a great starter come what may.
It’s got a pretty extensive service history – all paperwork kept (except where noted) – see the end of the ad for details in the last 12 years or so.
I’ve just given myself a mild coronary by adding up what’s been spent on the car since I met my wife – it’s over £10,000!
The original handbook and service book are present too in the original but slightly tatty plastic wallet..
The remote part of the central locking doesn’t work, but it works fine off the key. There are separate keys for the ignition, door and fuel cap
So why are we selling? Well, I have the opportunity to acquire another older classic I’ve hankered after for years, and the garage isn’t big enough for the Pug, the new addition and my bike. So it’s time to say goodbye to each of our ‘toys’.
