	Believe it or not, The VOSA MOT manuals are available to read for the general public. (they always have been in your local library but who goes to them!?) They are a useful source of 'Is this an MOT fail?' info to hand directly and easily at the click of your mouse. 	Anytime, ironically I used it as there was a very slight blow in my exhaust on the mondeo which despite gumming up was still just audible but luckily the link said "excessive" noise from the exhaust. Car flew through, 1995 mk1 mondeo td.

	Its definatly useful to know MOT regs. Some time ago (2013) a garage wanted to fail my car for having front brake pads too thin at 1,5mm. I said they are not, take the wheels off and measure them. They were actually 2.5mm according to their gauge, a feeler type gauge with colours, so it had to pass, with an advisory! (BTW, I was waiting for new disks and pads all round from a slow supplier, I had intended to do it before the MOT, I did it 2 weeks after that MOT)
