show me matte white cars...

Cheers Bruce it's just a mear phase that I fancy developing for a while

It looks like white primer. Great to draw on with colour chalks but it stains really easy and generally looking in a poor state.

I used to wash my Saxo with bleach and washing up liquid to try help with the tide marks, Clit Bang worked well but its very expensive and its back to square one once its got wet and dirty.

I'll see if I can find some of my old Saxo, I won't lie though it was great fun to own and I really miss that part of it.

I decided against it for my drift car , as if you touch the paint with the smallest amount of grime on your fingers , you leave a fingerprint!

I guess the nearest word I can think of is stain/stains? Basically matt paint is less resistent to marks/stains than glossy surfaces. Imagine some shiny/glossy paper and you try and draw on it in pencil/crayon, now see how much more it adheres to matt paper. The same with an oily fingerprint, even just rubbing it with your nail. Glossy paper will resist most of this, normal paper will 'attract' the pencil, oil, finger nail and will be 'marked' (kind of stained) as a result.

I painted my Delica in matt/satin paint. It did mark/stain easily but it kind of suited the look I was going for, but this was NATO green colour on a 4x4, it suited the look (although it didn't seem to ever get any worse over the 4 years!)

I personally woulnd't contemplate painting a daily driven car matt white unless I intended it to look very rough very quickly....I do actually like the look of the white Saxo when it's a bit beaten up, but I'd still prefer to have a nice glossy white paint finish for a daily car.

My defender is satin grey which is a great finish as it never really looks dirty, doesn't need polishing etc. A guy down the road has a matt grey XR3 which is constantly covered in greasy finger prints and looks pants. Go for satin white.

Ive had Matt green, and a few Black, darker they are easier to hide marks, and matt doesnt take well to
repelling marks/ stains
rather like trying to polish a sheet of 600 wet n dry

I've painted the van a matt grey (military vehicle paint from ebay IIRC) Must admit the winter grime has eaten into the paint on the rear doors and stained them It still washes but doesn't look as clean/fresh as when it was first done admittedly! Still, it only cost £30 to re-do

You can get 2k Matt Lacquer, I've used it on a few occasions to turn gloss cars matt and I can't remember them getting marked or showing dirt, though it has been a while since I've used it...


This was first painted in Glasurit high gloss black as it was all I had in stock, so a less than ideal base for a matt car, a few coats of the matt lacquer sorted it out
