Not stricty retro but tool related Anybody know of any US places that will send to the UK, had a check on the web and everywhere I tried said they wouldn't send internationally, stuff is soo much cheaper there its unreal even allowing for the possibility of getting stung for the vat etc on this side it's still a big saving. I'm aware mains voltage is different.

Don't forget the US power is 60HZ so motors will run a little slower on our 50HZ. www.ukworkshop.co.uk/articles/importing-power-tools-from-the-us.html - do you have contact with anyone in the US who could forward parcel onto you ? Maybe have them sent to a UPS depot who will then forward to UK. Do you know anybody who is going to US for a holiday ? When I had my P1800 I found repair panels were a lot cheaper in the US so considered having them delivered to hotel etc and flying over on £99 return flight to collect as well as having a short break. Of course the £99 return flights no longer exist ! When mate went to US for a holiday I gave him a shopping list of small items I wanted from Harbor Freight Paul H

What sort of stuff are you after? I've got a pal in Georgia who has shipped bits over for me in the past, might be able to work something out.

We went to NY a few years ago and bought a lot of stuff for home, kitchen ware, towels etch as well as DVD's and clothing, we had to pay a $50 excess luggage fee but we still saved a large wad and had a nice three week holiday in with the bargain we declared it all to customs but they weren't interested in checking it . We have friends that live in NY and other states so get items delivered to them and they post to our home address. I have never bought any power tools from the states though.

Are there not companies in the U.S who you send your order to and then they ship it to you ? I could have sworn i saw a something about them a year or 2 back . The problem is the tax and custom handling charges . I bought a hardtail rear frame for a triumph a few years ago for about £180 , and then i had to pay another £120 in charges before it was released .
