Hi all!
The car for sale is my 1988 Volvo 240DL. I drove for 2 hours to buy the 'all time reliable car ever made EVER' and on my drive home I discovered I'd been sold a car with a totally shot head gasket... Thanks Pal!!
So the car now has a newly done head gasket and full service. 6 months tax placed on at the start of feb (£127) and will have a fresh mot in the next couple of days. The car is my daily driver, I use it on motorways, city sprints, heavy hauls etc and it is great on fuel. Not "good for an old car" it's just fantastic. I'm currently working in Redditch which is a 33mile round trip for me and £40 lasts me the week with some to spare for Saturday.
It runs and drives great and the engine is very lively and responsive. Clutch and brakes are great. No idea why but Volvo decided it needed 4 pot calipers with duel fluid lines?! Lol
Anyways, the car! It's a 2.3 4 speed Manual "RedBlock" engine with a manual choke. 7 seater if you include the two fold down ones in the back. It has FSH (and I mean full). Previous owners truly loved it and it shows in appearance and performance. New exhaust all the way down, new rad, new dizzy cap and leads and plugs etc... The engine bay looks like new.
Has zero running issues, zero problems, no nasty surprises waiting to pop up like they did on me!
Only sign of rust is the usual tailgate shelf where it collects.
Comes complete with full towing gear and twin plugs, full Volvo breakdown gear and matching spare wheel. Also has a CD player that plays... CD's!! I recently discovered there's a huge compartment in the boot opposite the spare wheel literally packed with spare parts! Belts, seals, cv boots, water hoses (all packed in Safeway bags)
The wheels themselves are quite sought after especially in this undamaged condition. Tyres are great all round.
Car is obviously filthy in the pic but it does clean up fantastically. I'm sure a proper cut would have it gleaming!
Car is in Birmingham B37 and viewing is welcome! Not sure why the headlight wiper is in that position on the pic but let me assure you it's usually horizontal.
After £1000ono as it needs NOTHING to get you going on the road.
Thanks!!
